Bergmann
Yes such a PC is of high recreational value he wants to have provided a lot of it. What is the reason for the circle above. I like everything else well.
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted July 27, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 27, 2018 @Bergmann: Hallo Helmut, The circle above is something for you - it will be the track going into the show mine. There will be only a small diesel with some trucks for transport of wood- the latter being converted into open coaches for the tourists. This is also the reason for the small radius. The steam engine wouldn't make it on that radius. Hope it doesn't get too crammed. Happy Friday. Today the weather forecast say up to 37 in the UK and I do not have air conditioning in the office....
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted July 31, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 31, 2018 Some progress last Saturday. The inner part of the mountain is covered. 20180730_094856 20180730_094902 I also put the scenic break panel provisionally in. 20180730_095440 And the background photo plus 100 trees arrived. 20180731_104259 This is where is stopped as I caught a nasty infection which kept me in bed. This afternoon I tried leaving the bed for a while and played with some sea foam to make tree shapes. Of course they will be painted and get some leaves. 20180731_151822[1] Now back to bed....
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted August 2, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 2, 2018 Still ill but improving.Small things I can do. Rock production in full swing. 20180802_135739 I use two techniques: imprint of the real thing (on the square piece) and a rockmold. The imprint (in this case slate) seems to work quite well but while the filler sets it somehow gets less crisp. Probably I need to help by gluing on small pieces of the real stuff or engraving. I have quite a bit of slate at home. Did my porch with natural slate 2 years ago and kept the offcuts.... some people call me a hoarder
Bergmann
Further improvement, I like to dye the filling material before with powder colors. If something is thrown off or repelled, it will not flash white.
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted August 2, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 2, 2018 (edited) Good idea Helmut, normally I use my airbrush for colouring of the rocks, which also works quite well. And because of experience in the past I make always a few flash photos of my creations to detect those areas... Speaking about airbrush: I painted the stems and branches of the sea foam trees, so they are ready for applying the leaves. Here the photo after spraying. 20180802_161921 After that I cleaned my airbrush and I couldn't get it to work any more. I had the feeling the needle sticks too far forward - and under a magnifying glass I could see that the nozzle has split on the front end. Not happy, this was a Revell Master plus IDG 950, once their top model. And I remember that this was a present from my father, who was a modeller as well by the way. This was far before the Euro, I suppose in the mid 90th. So my expectations to get a spare part were rather low. I put the airbrush type into Google and I found spare parts on Amazon Germany! For the nozzle it said "only 6 available" so I ordered 2 to be on the save side. I am impressed, where do you find spare parts for something which is more than 20 years old! The nozzle is the double conical part on the green post-it paper. 20180802_163112 Of course I have to wait a few days but better than buying a new one.... RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted August 2, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 2, 2018 Just went on with the trees - I used foliage from my old friend Fabrizio who runs a shop and layout building business in Carnate, north of Milan. Shop is called La linea secondaria (the branch line) and does also internet business. Warning: the English as far as available is somewhat improvable... 20180802_175648 and the second part. There is already the hairspray waiting for his turn, but this will be tomorrow, after everything dried nicely. 20180802_175723 As you can see I am quite active today, and I will be back to work tomorrow.
Bergmann
I also thank the repair of the double action airbrush worthwhile. Have you also ordered a new nozzle needle for caution?

RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted August 20, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2018 Time for a little update. Spare part for the airbrush arrived, fits nicely and will be tested soon by coloring my theater rocks... Where are they? Well I was in a landscaping mood so I closed the first side tunnel. I used modrock to give the foam a hard shell. works really well. less messy than I thought. 20180820_212127 See here the solution for getting de-railed trains out. 20180820_211850 The round spots are magnets, they hold the cover quite well. See it now open. 20180820_211923 This is large and makes it easy getting trains out. And here we have a part of the rocks which need to be colored. 20180820_212039 There are of course more than that, almost at every tunnel mouth we will find some. Here one of the narrow gauge tunnels. 20180820_212510 And I played also a bit with the background photo. Nothing special, Faller Oberstdorf. The house is not yet in its final position and will hopefully be straight and not leaning... 20180820_212410
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted December 12, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 12, 2018 So what is happening at Donnersbachkogel? Not too much I am afraid. Business trips, holiday and other excuses have slowed down my progress. Now I am looking forward to the Christmas break, probably I can progress a bit. There was some work on the landscaping, a bit of colour has been added DSC04959 And I had/have some trouble with my small Roco diesel, sometimes the engine doesn't want to move. Power is there as the headlight is on. Unfortunately I found a nice Liliput diesel at Warley, so a replacement is there and some money is gone. Need to put a chip in, just purchased a Zimo MX617N for it. DSC04961 I improved the running quality on the H0e by adding automatic frog switches (Gaugemaster) to every point. Theoretically the point blade should do that, but the contact is not always firm enough. Now there is no problem in creeping over the points. DSC04962 Hope to show more in a short time...

RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted January 5, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 5, 2019 The buildings for the upper station arrived. RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted January 26, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 26, 2019 So.Back again. Any news? Yes. The middle mountain is covered in mod-rock and received partially also some ground cover. 20190126_212020 The mountain containing the mine slowly grows, of course it needs some shaping, but the main part is there. 20190126_212032 Here a view of the wohle thing. RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted February 3, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 3, 2019 (edited) Time of the blue foam is gone - now all is covered in plaster and a ground base colour consistent of different shades of brown and green. And - I couldn't resist - I had to plant some grass and a few trees. 20190203_194502 20190203_194605 20190203_194625 Edited February 3, 2019 by Vecchio
Alan Kettlewell
Nice progress and nice work. It's always a good leap forward when the framework and timbers disappear under the scenery. RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted February 9, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 9, 2019 The landscape is slowly progressing. Actually this is the part I like the most. This is the creative part. Here the hill with the mine inside. At the moment almost grass only, need to decide what vegetation should grow there. The smaller shrubs are based on lichen which I found end of 2017 in the woodlands of the lake district. The lichen had enough time to dry :-) 20190209_201539 A bit of mixed and young wood is growing here. All deciduous trees are home made. The larch in front is from MBR, the thin larch is home made from dried heather (dog walking...) and the other confers are cheap stuff from Noch. But I think if all is mixed up the overall impression is acceptable. 20190209_201503 Have planted approximately 40 deciduous trees, have to go back in the shed to produce more.... 9
RMweb Premium Vecchio Posted March 3, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted March 3, 2019 The tree production is in progress. 20190303_171917 This module is going to be ready soon, but ready means not finished.
