The Rolling Stock of The Wisbech and Upwell Tramway

Saw this on Facebook today, tried to contact the owner but he hasn't been on FB since June. I have done some searches using the title of the booklet but nothing specific comes up, I think the author is "Dave Hulls" and I can't make out the publisher.

It looks to me like it would have been published by a specialist group, but I can't make out the logo in the top left hand corner either. This was cropped from a photo' of 4 books, all the rest were in perfect focus!

Can anybody shed any further light please?

Thanks Pete, I think that, given the various issues raised in the different threads that were revealed in the suggested search, I will probably not bother to purchase the document.

I'll try to get a copy of the Oakwood press publication instead, although that is proving dificult at present.

Regards

has anyone dealt with PDH recently. The price list on website says 2011, and I found the paypal way to order prints did not allow details to be entered. I sent a message via contact page at weekend but have had no reply yet.

The book page seems to allow items to be added to a list, but the prints page just keeps going to a paypal payment page. Now paypal has changed over the years so this might be problem.

I have just orderd a copy of the Wisbech book, as I also am interested in that, and I can check to see if that works.

worry is that it might not arrive, based on some other threads here on this forum. Lots of doubts on accuracy of drawings in some cases, and a lot have had trouble contacting this company. Odd thing is he did start selling some books of drawings at start of year on ebay. I tried emailing him, and the email bounced. At least with paypal it is possible to get money back.

I am interested in the drawing for a project, but would also work from any photos. I am also after copies of Oekilon EMU stock drawings from his list, and put an order in.not easy, but used his contact form to send details of which drawings, and paypal for payments..

Thing is, I have asked for info about these drawings elsewhere on forum, and no-one seems to be able to produce them. Sometimes feel some are holding onto info, not wanting to share for some odd reason. Iunderstand there may be copyright ssues, so often communication by PM and all you then see is some thank yous on the forum.

Some have said they had to put paypal disputes in, got money back it seems because paypal had trouble contacting him. Given this trouble, I would have thought paypal would have stopped the account.

It could just be that lots of people have had good service, but a few have had problems and put it on forum. Bad news is more likely to be written aout than good nes, and based on what happened with another business, not everything said is 100 % correct.

I am primarily looking to model in HO, mainly because it is different, but is  correct scale for 16.5mm gauge track. I design my 3D printed models in a variety of scales (in theory no limit there)  Having said that I do model in OO using r2r, but if I am going to scatchbuild, I find it easier to get it 3D printed. I enjoy doing the design work, and even then I don't have to get model produced.

I am Ok putting together plastic kits, but can create something better 3D printed . Others can then also enjoy my designs as well. The hobby is changing and most now want either fully r2r or easy to build.

I can understand the HO thing. In my humble opinion the only thing that should 16.5 track at 4mm should be Lake Paden rly which used 4ft track.

As your doing HO can I recomend the LNER wagons Vol1 GNR/GCR/GER. lots of drawings of all the goods stock that would have been used on the W&UT.

Correction.

D&S Models DID the loco's and coaches in 4mm scale. D&S no longer functions but Wisbech and Upwell coaches will appear on Ebay as my Staffordshire friend readies himself for the Ultimate Destination -

a caravan at Portmadoc!

Happy Modelling,

Mike Beard.

I picked up a box of the 2 W&U coaches from D&S, new, on a stand at Warley the year before last. The guy selling it told me he had only picked them up the day before, seems D&S do limited runs of their kits and this stand always takes some to Warley. And no I can't remember the trader!. So it may be possible to get hold of new kits if you keep searching.

Hi all, it was me that had the book on facebook and I can confirm that sadly it does have errors. It's a shame really as I had such high hopes for the book when I purchased it and at £10, I thought the contents would be accurate, but it was not to be. I shall probably hold on to it purely for the fact it is W&U related, but it doesn't serve any real practical purpose for me.
As for the coach kits, as of last year, D&S had done another run of them at a more reasonable £30, the contact details are here on RMweb somewhere although I cannot say if there is any stock left.

Model Railway Constructor Annual 1983 had a set of drawings for the locos and carriages.

Jason

Do you think you might have confused the year number Jason, only I just got a copy and whilst it does contain photo's of the Loco there are no drawings of either the loco or the carriages. There is a drawing of a tramshed though, which made if worthwhile.

The 1982 annual has the drawings. They are the same ones that the GER society have. It is the Y6 loco, and the bogie coach.
