All,

As I'm sure you are all aware 26043 has had a number of successful years on the GWR since it was carefully restored by a group of volunteers. As I'm sure you all know its return to service was mired by a double traction motor flashover and a requirement to turn a serious defect out of No3 wheelset, that operation to turn the tyres and replace the motors severely crippled the groups finances, and the locomotive has relied solely on donations, and income from visits to other railways.

The time has come where the batteries on 26043 are reaching the end of there serviceable life, and the locomotive needs new batteries, without these 26043 will not run next season until the group can find funds to purchase a set, the group has 2.2k in the bank, and we are looking to raise another 2.5k to cover the batteries and the locomotives required insurance for 2017. During 2017 the locomotive will also start earning money from its operations on the GWR and hopefully start paying for itself.

26043 has an awful lot going for it, its mechanically very reliable, not failing once this season or last season and it has had quite intensive diagrams to work, this week alone covering over 100 miles of running.

Over the winter a lot of work will be done surrounding the cabs which are a little untidy, and sorting the niggling little faults which combined with a new set of batteries will result in a very fresh loco for 2017, moving further on with the battery problem behind it, the group can perhaps look at a repaint with the funds received from running in the 2017 season.

This thread will be used to advertise a number of OO gauge models and railway related items I will be selling on ebay, all money will be going to the 26.

This Thread will also have a number of items being sold in buy and sell on here as well.

If you would like to donate then a PayPal address has been setup and that is 26043@outlook.com

We have looked at crowdfunding, but with crowdfunding not all of your donation goes to 26043 and we would rather that was the case.

If you would like to buy a share these start from £250 and you get a say in 26043s future, details are available on the CMDG website, you don't have to pay £250 outright you can setup a Direct Debit and contribute a little each month.

Like I said if we cant raise this money 26043 will not run in 2017 as its highly likely the batteries will not survive the winter.

Id like to take this opportunity to thank the person who has helped immensely with the battery situation over the past few years you know exactly who you are, Thanks very much!

Thanks for your attention

Simon Townsend
CMDG Secretary
