alan sent me the full range of modern image figures this morning which i'm hoping to make a start on painting this weekend (in between shifts)

now i know i may be bias as they feature myself and a couple of work collegues but the one that stands out to me is the WD117 figure of william (little willy) reading the magazine, the thickness (or lack of it) of the mag itself is something to behold, infact the one of me with my backpack over my shoulder, (WD106) even has the peak on the bumpcap thats hanging from the bag!

No trainspotters yet then? Bunking shed or otherwise?

Nothing on the horizon for the time being sorry Jeff! You could always get a few young family members to a show to be scanned in bunking poses :)

GWR platform lamps sounds interesting and promising.

I'll get the L&Y development finished soon, which will include looking at glazing and possible illumination, then I should be able to push on quite quickly with other types of lamp

Development Update - September 2016

Just back from a good weekend at ExpoEM North, with a few new ideas and scans for new products.  I'll post periodically about what items are on the development workbench.  At present it includes the following:

L&Y Platform Lamps - in development / samples at Scaleforum

A commission for the L&Y society, these were a bit of a gamble to print but have come out really well.  The next step will be experimenting with laser glazing and printing the column in two halves, to allow for threading of wire/fibre optic.

GWR Concrete Pot Sleepers - in development / samples at Scaleforum

Designed to fit C&L 2 bolt chairs.  I'll be looking at template guides for placing these, for OO/EM/P4 spacing.  The 3D Scanned 2 bolt chair is for illustrative purposes only.

Goods Guards - ready for sample / On Sale at Scaleforum

Thanks to Richard who I met at ExpoEM North this weekend, I now have 5 new goods guard poses, suitable for brake vans and natural poses in the yard.

The figures are excellent- whoever did the painting did a first-class job. It was you, any chance of posting your technique on here?

Unfortunately these are screen captures, the scanner captures texture and colour as well as the 3D Mesh.  At whatever point 3D printing in colour becomes good enough for smaller scales I hope to be able to print them in full colour.   In the mean time, I hope the screen captures serve as a useful guide for painting.

Very impressed with the 4mm loco lamps especially the fineness of the handle and the way they slot over rtr lamp irons.

The signal finials aren't bad either.

Thanks for the feedback Robin and nice to meet you at the Hornby show!  I'll have a think about how to improve the finials as we discussed.

7mm versions of these headlights would be of great interest to me if you would consider producing them please.

But please note that the mounting plate appears to be very slightly angled so as to aim the light beam downwards.

It looks like the slight angle was common to all locos, it can be seen on this class 37.

Hi there, looks like a great idea for a new product, I'm sure the 4mm folks will be interested too.  I'll see what I can do, cheers

Exciting stuff, and I am glad to see that unlike Red and Blue Box, you have posted realistic years for release next to each product.

Look great I two would like separate brake blocks if at all possible two types New blocks and worn down ones. Though easy enough to file them down.

Also would you consider doing some of the following, which I think would sell really well. Indeed some of your figures above are holding them, but they would be useful as separate items.

Billy can

Drivers bag old style

Guards bag old style

Rucksack

Shunters pole

Brake stick

Bardic lamp

Passenger luggage trolley the steel ones with the yellow push down handle that were a common sight everywhere during the 1980s.

I'm sure others will have ideas to add to that list. Just some little details that were common sights all over the railway, but no one makes them.
