RMweb Gold Huw Griffiths Posted January 25, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2017 I noticed an ekranoplan in one of those pics. Zvezda do a 1:144 (as near as damn it is to N gauge scale) kit of one that I'm tempted by. G. That would make sense. After all, I believe that Zvezda are Russian, just like a number of ekranoplans / "Wing In Ground" aircraft. Huw.
grahame
That would make sense. After all, I believe that Zvezda are Russian, just like a number of ekranoplans / "Wing In Ground" aircraft. Yep, Zvezda are Russian - I've got one of their Hawker Hurricane model kits in 1:144- http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/115057-scratch-built-card-and-styrene-structures-based-on-real-buildings/page-6 - post #128. Apparently ekranoplans are not classified as aircraft but GEVs (ground effect vehicles) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_effect_vehicle - the A90 Orlyonok pictured on that site is the model that Zvezda offer. Shame its not of the Caspian Sea Monster with the raked missile tubes on top. That would have clinched a purchase. G
