rue_d_etropal
I have been looking at pictures of the new Bachmann OO gauge Wickham trolley, and wonder if anyone has yet tried to use the chassis for larger scale narrow gauge(O scale ,or 1/32 possibly), and then using the body for OO9. The chassis looks nice and low, so might make an interesting small narrow gauge unit. The body could be mounted on a dummy wagon chassis and pushed, or two bodies could be joined and fitted to a Kato bogie chassis. Think I might have just persuaded myself to get a couple!! BernardTPM
Mount it on a Kato Portram? (then again, you could get the etched kit and do that).
rue_d_etropal
I thought the current Kato Portram chassis was not small enough now. The OO9 idea is an offshoot. my main interest would be to create something in bigger scale. THis would then mean I have two projects from one model. BernardTPM
I thought the current Kato Portram chassis was not small enough now. The 2016 models still appear to have full interior detail. The Tomix versions have larger mechs.
rue_d_etropal
only going on what some OO9 modellers have told me. The original Kato mechanism would fit under a 20hp Simplex, I have seen it done, but apparently the newer version does not. I tried an alternative which was not sccessful. I will ask next week at Rainhill Xmas show as it is co-hosted by OO9 group.
Hando
The Body could be taken off and replaced with a maintainence worker's trolley in 0-16.5 Or a runaway wagon as a little joke
rue_d_etropal
I got one last week, very impressed at how well it ran. Need to test it on one of my layouts to see if it likes the sharpcurves before getting another to modify.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted December 4, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 4, 2016 As I've got a spare Portram in bits I thought I would give this a try. Even next to a small 009 loco (Minitrains Bagnal) it still looks small. No modification of the Bachmann model is needed, just remove the two screws in the chassis and remove it. With the bit sticking out of the front cut off the Portram chassis is a perfect fit It's a bit light, but there is room for some lead under the roof. AMJ
Not had any of these yet but wonder if the motor would be ideal for a locomotive such as the Greenbat or Hudson Hunslet size.
