Popular Post Andrew P
O.K. So all I did was to go on Holiday to Wales, I had no intention of looking at 7mm until a visit to Martin / Gismorail on the Monday, and then David / Jintyman and Craig / Muddys Blues on the Wednesday, and that was a major turning point. I came away with ideas mulling over in my Brain Box, but having previously built 2 X O Gauge Layouts, St Budoc and 2 incarnations of Trebudoc, I wasn't keen on repeating the same again with Panniers and Prairies. But then at 2am on the Thursday morning I suddenly had a EURKA moment. Why not go to the Diesel era now with the advent of the New Dapol 08 hitting the Shelves? EDITED = 27/12/2016 FROM PAGE 18, Don't be confused by the bit between here and Page 18, I went down a different road. I wasn't totally happy with the Yard I had, it looked to much like make believe, and having read and been inspired by Chris Klein's Cwm Bach and it's operating potential I was inspired to do something similar but not a copy. For starters I didn't want a Station, I didn't want an incline, and I didn't want a direct copy of Chris's Layout, So instead of the Colliery that Chris used I decided to go for a MOD. SEE NEXT EDIT EDITED AGAIN = 12/01/2017, Another Year, Another Idea. So then I decided that the Track Plan was a direct copy of Chris's Layout and ALSO that I needed more room for the OO Fiddle Yard, so from page 26 up it came again. The new boards will be 2 x 4ft x 18 inches and be Transportable so if I wanted to do our Clubs show I could do with ease. This will be more of a Inglenook Shunting Plank, and almost back to the original pics below. Thanks for your patience with my indecision. SEE NEXT EDIT EDITED AGAIN = 14/01/2017 The Plank, Yes its all change again from Page 27, Post #661 This is IT, at last, THE FINAL PLAN, no more track lifting, it's Lay and Play time folks. first pics on Page 28. It's also now a very run down Scottish BLT with No Passenger Services, so a Freight only Branch now but with a busy Goods Yard. SEE NEXT EDIT. EDITED YET AGAIN = 15/01/2017, Page 30, Gone has the Passenger Station idea, and now it's a proper Goods Yard at the end of the Line, so this is THE FINAL FINAL PLAN ???????? SEE NEXT EDIT = ? EDITED AGAIN 20/11/2017 / Page 39 Post 956 = So Beale St has been asleep for a few Months now whilst I concentrated on my ''OO'' project, Kings Moreton. That is now running and 90% of the basic scenics are completed, although I still have the Main Station area to finalise the details of, and Much Dithering, the BLT to work on before starting on the fine detailing all around the Layout. Like Beale St, Kings Moreton had a few faulse starts along the way, but has now setteled into a really nice Layout to use. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/120051-kings-moreton-wr-through-oxfordshire/page-103&do=findComment&comment=2931132 In the meantime I decided that I wanted something different to do between running long ''OO'' Gauge Trains on KM. So I decided to resurrect BS in a new smaller format of just 6ft x 15 inches so that it would store under KM, and also be just on one board for easy quick setting up and taking down. This now only requires two trestles and can be set up in under five minutes. I've also decided to take this opportunity to rename it, as it no longer reflects a large busy Yard, but is now just a couple of Sidings off a Truncated Single Track Branch with a Run Around loop beyond the Road Bridge / Sector Plate. It's now also set in North Wales somewhere around Bala, and so it will now be called Penybont, ( Penybont translates to BRIDGEND in English, as it's near the Bridge at the Eastern end of Llyn Tegid / Lake Bala. Penybont is also the current name for the Bala Lake Railway Terminus at the old Llyn Tegid / Lake Bala Station on the Corwen / Barmouth Line west of Bala Junction) Penybont has now been re built in the Inglenook Shunting format of 5-3-3 with the Truncated Line past the Level Crossings taking the 5 Wagons that will be needed to formulate the workings from a Playing Card System. It has a single Track Sector Plate feeding the 3 Tracks, therefore saving both space and money by having no Points. Thanks once again for your patience. Now go to Page 39, Post 956. 31/03/2018 Now the correct Welsh spelling, Pen Y Bont and extended to include a Station. brossard
Ooh scary! I was about embark on an OO layout when I had my lightbulb moment - starting with the realisation that the Dapol 08 is actually affordable, even with sound. I'll be watching with interest. Marcus 37
Noooooo!!! Not you as well. I keep looking at Jinty's layout and getting silly Ideas. Now you're going to start tempting me as well. I've already consulted Anthony about ripping up KoLW but he didn't seem too keen on the idea. With the imminent release of Heljans Centre panel tractor this could prove all to much. Seriously though mate I'm really looking forward to this as your last to O Gauge creations were before I joined RMweb. Cheers Marcus
Andrew P
Cheers everybody for ALL your positive comments, there is also Heljan Class 25 on its way thanks to Steve Fay who gave me a superb service, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on that and fitting a SWD Sound Chip and frightening the neighbours, hahhaha.
Brian D
Great idea Andy - two layouts on the go, as you say the old mojo should be constantly titivated (if you'd pardon the expression)....and it's good to see you back in O gauge. Looking forward to developments on both layouts - always entertaining and educational watching your layouts take shape. Secretly, I think we'd all love an O gauge layout. Best regards, Brian.

RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted November 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 18, 2016 Great move Andy. I'm following just to see how you get on with those Parkside kits if nothing else. Doubt there's much RTP 7mm to choose from, so will this thread go down the structure scratch building route? Good luck with this. Shaun
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted November 18, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 18, 2016 Shakes head in disbelief................. There is no hope for you.............. So where are you going to put the 009 layout? So when will you finish this one? Mind you I am as bad with a load of part built layouts, at least you finish yours. 3

Shaun Cheers Shaun, I have 3 Parkside Kits to make up, 2 x 16T Minerals and a Grampus, and love doing them. As for the Buildings, there will just be one Warehouse / Brewery / Dairy with a Loading Dock and Canopy and the Road Bridge, so I'm looking forward to having a go with that, if it FAILS miserably I'll give George T a call.

I am getting rid of my Computer Table under Willsbridge's Fiddle Yard to put in some racking, then I can swap them about. If I added 4 inches along the back I could have 0 Narrow Gauge along the back, hahha.

Andrew P
I forgot to say, (and will now add to opening Post) that Beale St is the one that runs over the Level Crossing at the left hand end. There used to be a Station to the left of the Crossing but that closed just after the War, although the line was still in use to an MOD Site for many years, this gives me the option to add another board to that end should I wish at some point. Donington Road
this gives me the option to add another board to that end should I wish at some point. Extension to the Potting Shed imminent
Andrew P
Thanks George and Mick, Extension in or out of the Shed un-likely / IMPOSIBLE, but If I took it up to the Clubroom there would be room for another board. Also if I moved it nearer to the Door there would be room for another 6ft to on the end. So put it OVER Willsbridge's Fiddle Yard and I've got almost 18ft so double its current length. :nono:
