This is getting totally off-topic, but here's why my RMWeb handle is as it is.

This was my fast DAX:

3.9L of bugs-in-yer-teeth V8 goodness.

Sigh - gone to a new home a few years now.

VERY nice! weve had a few kit cars and classics all very much missed now, dad had the V8 BGT (I used to love blowing away idiots in the early hot-hatches as the V8 only had the V8 badge on one side and the back, they only saw it from the back as I left them behind! Nowadays hot-hatches are really, what I would call, 'hyper-hatches' of course, hundreds of BHP so even dad's clubman tuned V8 would struggle to match that performance). Dad's mate had a Sunbeam Alpine Tiger, the poor man's cobra - that was a hoot. My quickest 'alternative' car was my AH Sprite which was loosely to Sebring/Le-Man's spec in terms of tune......110BHP at the back wheels on skinny wires=lots of fun in road rallies etc. it was a giant eater......

And my current old banger.

Rob

Lovely car - lucky chap, rare now too! I miss my mildly modified MKII 1300, all of those Escorts handled superbly well - never twigged how great they really were back in the day - they still do well in rallying even now, cracking cars!

Back on topic now....

Thanks CME! So that this doesn't drift further off-topic, please see http://duncan-hurst.se7ens.net for more. (P.S I also had an MGB GT - just a vanilla 1.8 though - not the V8!)

James - good looking weathering on that 08. I must do something like that to mine. How did you achieve the effect?

Looks good doesn't the 08 and one what was southern region allocated. However I can't say the weathering is my work as bought it pre weathered off eBay for £199. Like it so much I wouldn't mind a green one to go with it!

Hi James

With a bit of work the Triang Hymek can be made into a nice model, with mine I deviated from the PRMRP instructions by making a separate chassis and I sourced parts from quite a few other suppliers but it cost around £300 to build and that included one of Mr Chetters' excellent sound chips.

How did you mask off the warning panel to paint? doing the rounded corners is giving me headaches!

Nice work on the Class 33. Does anyone know where I can pick up a motor for the conversion. I have inherited a kit but need a motor.

Thanks.

Hi Ray,

Motors are becoming a bit of a challenge with the demise of Mashima. Canon's et al can sometimes be picked up on Ebay et al.

Are you a Guild member?

The fleet expands a tad more, got to love Heljan locos!

Ahhhhh! A man after my own heart!

Not currently. I'm really a 4mm man but my mate and the club both have 7mm layouts so I tinker. I inherited the loco/conversion kit but the motor that came with it can't be used so I was looking for a replacement/alternative.

It would be good to know exactly what to look for if someone can provide that info.

Thanks

I painted the yellow area first, made a plasticard template of the panel and then laid it onto masking tape cut around it and then stuck the tape to the loco.

Hope that helps and makes sence!.

I bought a Mashima clone motor from Cornish Nige to power Ivor and my O Gauge Pug, not sure if he has any left, but it might be worth a PM ....

Hi you need to work out size & type, so eg a 'can' motor like a mashima, sizing is eg. 1833, 16?? etc. Also budget comes into play too, GOG members often get discounts from the likes of MSC (motors & gearboxes)et al, Roxey were doing Mashimas too...

I think that I have seen something similar in the magazines, but the trail went cold, when I tried to enquire after them.

Well as this thread had gone totally off what it was meant to be about I couldn't be arsed to update it.

So here's an update! I had a change of where I wanted to go with O gauge and went to late 80's onwards modern image so here's the current fleet.

Little progress bought a few more locos and am in the process of converting them to 1988/1989 spec

Got a 45 chassis for a good price and this week got a pre production shell, this is being converted to full 45/1 spec as 45128 centaur.

Also bought another 20 20106, have a headcode 20 on the way to be 20214.
