Just seen a Colas 37 in Reading P.Way yard (I was on the mainline flyover) - it looked like it had split-headcode boxes, but could't see the number or makeout the nameplate. Would this have been '99, or is another split box 37 in Colas livery?

Yesterday Merl went towards the seaside! On the rear end of a test train, with 37057 leading and heading out of York for Scarborough.

I didn't see it myself, being ensconced at work, but a friend of mine was at the station

The second photo is of Merl, glowing in the late afternoon sun!

Cheers

Just received an email notification from Hatton's to say the Bachmann model of 37099 will be available between December 2017 and January 2018, gives my wallet some breathing space.

Got my email today aswel from hattons to say 37099 66728 and 66779 will be available between December 2017 and January 2018

I assume that will mean that the Locomotion special 66779 will be due out the same time then. My bank account has just taken a huge sigh of relief lol.

you wont be seeing the real 37099 for a while, its  reported to have thrown a piston thru the block and 37611 & 37025 went north to mossend today , 37611 is going on the test train what 37099 was on and 37025 is bring 37099 south to barrowhill  on the 29th may

Thank you for letting me know.

That's a shame about 37099. I noticed on TOPS today that 37025 was working 0Z37 Derby RTC to Mossend. I didn't see that 37611 was with it but I knew that their must have been a loco failure for 025 and 611 to be dispatched from Derby. Hope 37099 is back out and about soon.

I went to York to get  this working  and it caught a few people out , booked avoider n went station but I was in the right place at Holgate junction  so I rewarded with a decent pic of them and hoping to get the return run with 2 splitboxes together

Glad you managed to get a photo of them.

Yes it would be nice if you got 025 and 099 in the same photo. Especially considering that Colas only have these two and 057 as split box 37s so it isn't very often that the split box 37s are paired up. Hope you manage to get them.

Will 37099 need a new engine? I know that 37421s engine has just been removed and replaced at Barrow Hill. Once repaired could 099 potentially have 421s old engine?

Do you know where 421s new engine has come from? Possibly refurbished and removed from 37207?

Thank you very much in advance.
