Thanks Colin, I will have to have a look at using Loctite on my stretchers instead of trying to solder them.

Only just seen your comment.  Just to be clear, the stretcher bar brackets will be soldered to the switch blades, with the Loctite 435 being used only for the GEL laminate and brass bracket joints.
