Which idiot's/beginner's' guide would you recommend?

I am planning to build an old white metal kit of an HO scale French autorail - and I intend to buy a new motorised bogie to make it go.

 

But I want to run it under DCC with glorious sound effects.

 

As this will be my first attempt at installing DCC in a train, I need an idiot's/ beginner's guide, laid out in easy-to-follow steps, with good pictures to illustrate the process.

 

I have already ordered the six-page PECO booklet on the topic.
