Dimensions of closed and demolished stations

I'm interested in modelling Broadstone in a modern era take of the old S&DJR station. I'd like to know how many carriages would fit into the platforms back in the day - in other words how long were the platforms? I've seen plenty of photographs and few plans from Mitchell/Smith books (but unfortunately they're not to any obvious scale.)

Was this sort of information ever published and is it in the public domain?

Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

You will find what you need in Judge & Potts' A Historical Survey of the S&D Railway Track Layouts and Illustrations. Broadstone is on pages 90 to 92

Their plan, at 190ft to the inch, has platforms 3" long = 570ft approximately.

For future reference, The National Library of Scotland has a growing archive of Ordnance Survey maps through from Victorian times, available online. Search NLS maps to find them.

From memory plans exist for certainly the waiting shelters on the Hamworthy line and the island. Can't remember on the main building.

The OPC book on the S&D has a plan as well.

Its not a small station would be the one observation, however a fab place when you mix what came down the S&D with all the things via the corkscrew or the S&D to Salisbury.
