4-way point anyone?

Never mind. Here is a 5-way turnout in P4, built by Tony Wilkins.

Martin.

Very nice work, just a shame about the graffiti on the door of the PW hut. While it may be historically accurate it would have been better left off.

Why would it have better?

Certainly a stunning bit of track work.

I dread to think of the amount of gapping required on the sleepers to prevent shorting out or are they not copperclad sleepers.

I would expect this pointwork to have been built using wood sleepers, so no gaping was required.

There should be plenty of rail gaps, though!

Or much good to be done by trying to pretend it doesn't exist.

If it was there on the prototype hut, include it but don't add it if it wasn't.

With respect you are missing the point.

It is at best insensitive and at worst a deliberate political statement.

Posting a photograph is almost as bad.

In Germany models of that period have the offending item left blank when the remainder of the cab side insignia is depicted.

I do not expect to read excuses for such disgusting  behaviour on this forum.

It is not the insignia of the National socialists but an occult marking that it was derived from. It needs to be tipped to 45 degrees to represent the Nazi swastika.

This smacks of putting your fingers in your ears closing your eyelids and pretending it didn't happen. Father was a PoW in a French concentration camp then Germany for 4 years and wanted things like this to be seen as a reminder of what can happen.

I posted the 5-way photograph for the trackwork. In a topic about trackwork.

I have looked at that photo many times in recent years -- it is quite well known on the Scalefour forums and has appeared in magazine articles about the Clag group's Green Street layout. I have never noticed the graffiti before, and had to look quite hard to find it when it was mentioned on here.

The platelayers hut was modelled in 1994 by Brian Kirby, see: http://www.clag.org.uk/green06.html

Perhaps sensibilities have changed in the 23 years since then.

Lots more about the layout: http://www.clag.org.uk/greenst.html

Martin.

Shame, we shouldn't have to pander to the professionally offended.

Anyway, is there a prototype for a 5 way point? Being a modern modeller even 3 way points seem excessive :)

Disgusting behaviour? I'm surprised at this diatribe about a picture which shows a piece of craftsman. You are implying that the modeller and poster of the photograph are deliberately promoting nazi ideology by modelling piece of graffiti which was typical of its time. That for me is taking things a step too far.

Do you also condemn military modellers as disgusting for portraying WW2 German vehicles accurately?
