** New this year - Bring & Buy stall ** - Phil Copleston wil be proving details soon

Catering - details to be confirmed

Saturday 29th April

This year the majority of the Saturday is free for those who wish to come down to Somerset early, to spend time as they wish. Heritage railways such as the West Somerset Railway and the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway are close by, for example.

I can also confirm that Taunton MRG have once again agreed to open their clubroom at Bishops Lydeard station specially for us from 1700 to 1900 hrs on the Saturday, with the usual warm and friendly welcome.

** Please Note **

The SWAG weekend this year synchronises (clashes??) with the WSR Steam Gala weekend,  For those who happen to be interested you will find some details here -

http://www.west-some...ing-steam-gala

But the really IMPORTANT NOTICE is in respect of our Saturday visit to the Taunton MRG's layouts Tamerig and Bath Green Park.  Because of the gala these layouts will be open to public visitors over the Gala weekend therefore if you are visiting on Saturday late afternoon/evening as an RMweb member please do not present yourself at 'the hut' before 17.00 (unless you want to be part of the ordinary public access).  It has been arranged with Taunton MRG that they will close to the 'ordinary public' just before 17.00 on the Saturday and re-open immediately after 17.00 for us lot.

No doubt the gala weekend might have some impact on car parking as well

After visiting Taunton MRG we will continue to The Lethbridge Arms, Bishops Lydeard More information on the pub can be found here http://www.thelethbridgearmspub.co.uk/index

Updates:

Edit 1: Removal of Titfield Thunderbolt (my mistake...)

Edit 2: Added Phil Parker & John Farmer as Demonstrators

Hi Stubby47

Thanks for update on SWAG 2017

Looks a great line up.

Looking at the google map I note there is a bus stop very nearby.

Any idea which bus company and route use the bus stop, as it looks like parking is a bit cramped.

The hall car park is usually reserved for exhibitors - mainly as its pretty small. On street parking can be had on a first come first served basis on some of the residential roads around the venue or in the road adjacent to the hall itself (that road is busy but if people park close to the curb two lanes of traffic can still get past at once and I don't believe that anyone has suffered from it).

I have no idea about local bus services but I imagine that being a Sunday they could be a bit thin on the ground. I suggest a bit of internet research to see what the situation is.

Not to keen on street parking as I'm in the area in a Motorhome, so much prefer to use public transport.

I have done some research on the internet and it looks like route 58 or 58B I need to check Sunday timetable

Delighted to see that the Captain's vacuum (all 25", no doubt!) has been effectively replaced. Well done, all.

Attendance is uncertain. I should be in France, but as Mrs D will be returning to Blighty the previous week, I might just stowaway in the boot of her car! We'll see.

For those attending the Saturday night meal I have confirmed with the Lethbridge Arms in Gore Square, Bishops Lydeard http://www.thelethbridgearmspub.co.uk/index a reservation for us to arrive around 7pm following the gathering from 5pm at the Taunton MRG club rooms on Bishops Lydeard station.

I have been asked to collate the starter and main meal choices (deserts can be ordered on the evening) and advise the venue the week before and I am happy to do this via PM to me please (note this differs from previous years arrangement)

Individuals will be responsible for settling their own food and drinks bill on the evening.

The menu can be downloaded here Lethbridge Arms menu.pdf

Therefore could those whom have indicated they are attending advise me via PM of your starter and main course choices as soon as possible please.

If any members have not yet indicated to me that they are wishing to attend on the Saturday evening please do so with menu choices via PM as well.

Probably only to 21", but I'm sure that's plenty :)

Thanks Stubby

I am afraid I cannot make the Saturday evening  'Do' but I can offer a few lemon drizzle cakes - how many? Also aim to arrive around 7.45 on the Sunday so very willing to help set up.

Will talk to Mike Sidecar Racer re fiddle yards, nowhere to store them at home though.

Looking forward to the event of the year.

I'll aim to get there for 7:30, or just after, to help out.

How big are the fiddle yards? I could store the fiddle yards so long as I can get them, plus my module, into the car for the journey home.

I'll liase with the moduleers.

This is a copy of a badge Andy Y produced for the Ally Pally 2014 show.

post-7025-0-15398300-1490101146.jpg

Helpful if anyone wants to copy, edit (by adding their name & forum name) and print, prior to bringing to the Members day.

Remember to re-size to 90mm x 60mm, so it will fit in the delegate badge holders supplied (these will be in a box by the door).

I can also bring some blank ones to be available 'on the door'.

I wish you all success in the first non-CK SWAGonia Festival.

I am unable to attend due to being temporarily back in the Land Downunder though having relocated successfully to the Strawberry Hill area of Twickenham.  My own layout will be enjoying its farewell performance on the 1st April.

May I be the first to say "See you in 2018" and, provisionally, to offer my assistance for that event.
