was this "Graubunden" from some guys in NL? If yes, I see it is down for Eurospoor in Utrecht in early November.

My confusion, I went to the Dortmund show and the Cologne late last year and had the Graubünden layout in mind after seeing the list for Eurospoor.  Always sad for the families left behind, but good that some of modeling legacy lives on.

Yes, it was. Was, as the builder sadly died earlier this year. He was a former member of our club who'd left a few years ago. After a few years on his own he joined our sister club and his layout is now in the care of that club. He arranged that before he passed away (he knew he was on borrowed time in his final year). He left a wife, daughter+SiL and at least one grandchild.

 

The layout "Graubundenbahn" was solely build by the late Niek Talsma, who was a civil engineer with a specialisation in bridge design and working for the Dutch Gov't civil engineering Dept RWS (Rijkswaterstaat, responsible for building and maintaining motor- and waterways). The layout depicts the station of Schiers where he spend much time on holidays as child and adult. He later added a branch line, originally Bernina, in later years FO, although I don't know what he did in the final period.

 

PS: I just realised you're referring to the above video clip, which is not the Graubundenbahn layout, but a works layout from Bemo themselves. They've had several already and one even came up for sale some years ago.

I went to Eurospoor today....not as good as previous years but I wonder if the show in Friedrichshafen played a part as that show is currently on.  Both Dutch RhB layouts where on show, Graubunden and the other who's name I forget.  I did manage to get one loco I had been wanting to get for a while....I had been trawling the internet and ebay without success....made the trip worth while despite being stuck on the Antwerp ring on the way back !

I was planning to go but lack of funds means I simply can't afford 4 days of petrol and the risk of having to pay out of my own pocket for the parking (participants usually get exit cards from the parking lot, but they're in high demand, thus scarce, and not easy to come by) like I had to last time I went there (2012).

Oops!   It is a nice layout.

 

Yes, the parking is expensive, but it was still a nice day out with my eldest daughter
