Kevin M
Please excuse me if this seems like a dumb question. This is the first time I have attempted to model a European narrow gauge layout and it seems everything I want to know is in German. I did help a friend build a 4' x 10' Marklin German RR display layout but he supplied everything and I did most of the building. What do you use for structures on a Swiss HOm layout? It appears to me that all the commercial kits are of German protoypes. At least when I type the kit name in google maps it takes me to somewhere in Germany. I have found nothing close to the appearance I have seen in pictures and videos along the RhB and other narrow gauge lines. I can scratch build also if I can come up with plans. Any help will be appreciated. I'm sure I'll have more questions. Thank you, Kevin Miller

Salmotrutta
Thanks guys, Now the search for one of these kits here in the states. Kevin Look on eBay - make the search worldwide and you will pickup some Italian and German vendors. But check the postage! I have got a couple of things which were cheaper from Europe than in the USA. I also have Google translate on my iPhone which does instantaneous translations from German into English - not always clearly - the compound words fox it sometimes! I know a little German so if you send me a private message I would be glad to help translate instructions.
Kevin M
With the list Brian posted I found what I was looking for. I got the Kibri Surava station from Eurorail Hobbies in BC. Its just about the right size for the small layout I'm building. Kevin Edited May 17, 2017 by Kevin M
RMweb Gold tractionman Posted May 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 16, 2017 Thanks guys, Now the search for one of these kits here in the states. Kevin Hi Kevin, Gaugemaster will ship overseas, their website has information, eg "We are happy to ship an order anywhere in the world. Orders for shipping outside of the UK are charged carriage at cost, according to the weight and value of the goods ordered". Hope that helps. Cheers, Keith

hayfield
Kevin Just picked up on this thread, I too plan to build a small 009(H09) and now H0m layout. I was looking for buildings not either in German or Alpine influenced. My first port of call was looking on eBay where I found both made and unmade kits at knock down prices. I am trying to create a more provincial town style rather than Alpine. I also looked at various makers sites (Faller, Kibri etc) all of which seem to have versions in English, Failing that try Google translate

The above list has proven really useful. Ideally I need a long thin but not too large building so Solis, Surava or even Davos Monstein seem likely candidates. Does anyone know the footprint dimensions of these three buildings please? (I already have one Swiss chalet that looked ok on e Bay but has proven too large to use!) Davos Monstein seems most freely available of the three on e Bay - I like the building but wonder if it is a bit of a quaint one-off that wouldn't look right at another fictitious location? michl080
morning, I think http://www.mbapiro.ch/aktuell.php hasn't been mentioned yet. A very nice program of Swiss prototype models. They are shipping internationally, but their website is only in German. If google doesn't come up with a reasonable translation, I might be able to help. (as a native German speaker) Michael Very nice models, but their prices are not for the faint-hearted! There is also a Dutch manufacturer offering some signature buildings of the MGB line- like the bridge & chapel at Stalden-Neubrück, a typical MGB station of the former FO line between Brig and Disentis, and some typical chalets and barns. Tilly Models These are resin kits of rather good quality. The bridge & chapel I used on my own Swiss layout.

RMweb Premium Chamby Posted April 15, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 15, 2018 (edited) www.laser-creation.net Click: boutique/kits-batiments HO/HOm. Some stunning wooden laser kits that are an absolute pleasure to build. Lots of stuff including for the MOB and a few RhB and others... a good selection of station buildings, loco sheds and other more general swiss buildings. They come at a price (in Swiss francs) but you do get what you pay for... the guy runs an efficient business and ships overseas.
