Titherleigh is our club's (Liphook & District MRC) latest layout - set in early BR southern region Devonshire. It is based on a plan in a Railway Modeller from the early 1980s; simple, but with a decent amount of operating potential. It also gives members a chance to do some modelling - the structures are a mixture of kit and scratch-built. Our 00 contingent also like their kit built locos and stock, so a wide variety of interesting trains will feature.

The layout is still under construction, but at an advanced stage - just scenic details left.

Later developments (apologies for the indifferent pictures - taken on my phone):

A view of the yard - the gravelled yard surface will work its way to the gate in the middle of the picture. Greenery will also make its way along the small embankment to the left. Signals still to be added.

The station building - towards the left is a small workshop and petrol station, along with bus stop.

Loco shed and creamery.

Work around the station will continue to tidy things up in time for the layout's debut at Rotarail in a couple of weeks time.

Titherleigh made its exhibition debut a couple of weeks ago at Rotarail. We have been there a couple of times in the past and rate the show very highly for the variety of exhibitions and its organisation. The layout performed reasonably okay for a first outing - although one of the points decided to go all diva during the afternoon, and there was a mystery short which came and went over the course of the show. Needless to say, neither issue were in evidence when the layout was set up back at the club for remedial work!

No photos from the show; however I was able to get a couple of snaps of the layout last night.

The station yard has been tidied up since the last picture. Still detailing work to be done here...

The station building is a modified Superquick card kit.

A Hornby M7 and push-pull set rest in the bay platform. A Bachmann C class is sneaking into the background with a small freight...perhaps a little lost in the wild west?

The layout seemed popular, and it sounds like there is at least one exhibition invite in the offing.

Titherleigh made an appearance at the Guildford Astolat show last weekend.

An enjoyable day, with the layout behaving reasonably well (a couple of sticky points, and an intermittent isolating section notwithstanding). The layout was operated with Southern stock.

A few pictures from the day...
