From Ebay a cheap body only LNER N2 062 in need of a bit of restoration and a chassis. It appears to be a scratchbuilt body, all sawn parts, no stampings, quite well assembled, and very detailed. Soldering is a bit overdone in places and the solder excess needs removal. Several items like the coal rails to complete. The rear buffers are missing

It is all nickel sliver, with brass dome and chimney. Only one condensing pipe is fitted at the moment.

Work started on clean up with an acid bath to remove any oxide etc from the metal, using acetic acid (food grade), at about 20% strength(very strong vinegar), applied warm and then allowed to stand and then scrubbed off in clean water. The excess soldering will take a while to work at with scrapers, rotary wire brushes in a Dremel motor tool, hand wire brush and scotchbrite souring pads.

There are few details to add, just the finishing of the coal rails and then the condenser pipes and siphons on the tank tops.

Despite one pipe being there, to get a proper match it needs a full set bent up to get consistency. The "pipe" is actually solid brass rod approx 2.8mm diameter.

Two new rear buffers are needed, fully sprung to match the existing front buffers.

Coal rail bars are already on the cab windows.

It need new handrails all round, but the knobs are already in place.

The chassis is cut out to the Roche drawing, and a set of wheels being ordered in.

Motor is Chinese double ended 5 pole, which can take a gearbox and flywheel, leaving the side tanks and rear bunker to be fitted with cast lead weights. Motor ballraced with flywheel support.
