Blowers Green Dudley/Netherton

Recommended Posts

I have also been thinking about modelling the ex GWR station at Blowers Green..

This is partly because it's on my route to work and also the line has recently been cleared (the much delayed tram route).

It's a world away from my GCR stock and GCR ideas but seems like quite a nice condensed location?

The workings seem to be mainly locals and freights so it would not need huge fiddleyard space...

It's also easy for me to photograph the station building and whilst it's clear the line, track layout and bridges before the greenery grows back..

Any thoughts?

What period are you thinking... Would you include the junction, if not there's not much to keep you entertained. Lots of nice detail in those photographs

I noticed a few weeks ago that some work was going on down there. Like you I think I will go and take some photos before everything grows back - I have long had this in mind for a little project....

Sorry I have only just seen these replies, I be modelling BR 1960's...

I have 4 metres to use but would need a curve at one end. I think that like you say without the junction there's not a great deal of interest but it does expand the layout a lot.

The other choice is Priestfield Station in Wolves?

I was just looking at an excuse to buy a couple of Dapol 122's.  Priestfield would provide a suitable location for a very down at heel station and service.  I also like how the road bridges could contain the whole layout.

I considered Priestfield as a project too. Not much in the way operational interest, but it does have convenient scenic breaks at both ends!

Following with interest.
