As predicted this is turning out to be a great event - very different to a conventional model railway show though

Abbotswood just needs final prep this morning - we are in the memorial hall with 4 other layouts spanning 7mm to 2mm and some model engineering exhibits. There will be live steam running on the track in the school grounds, in which as Pierre pointed out you could film ST Trinians without having to create a special set - its that sort of place.

Now the 0 gauge layout is Templeford - Hornby 3 rail tinplate - and I suspect that when running it is going to drown out our DCC sound! Worried ? Not! I noted this layout on the advanced blurb that this layout was run by the Tandy family from Malvern. Now we had the Tandy brothers at school in Worcester and although they were not part of the main stream railway group - now largely tied up in the Worcester Loco Society - I was aware there was a railway interest in the family.

So on arrival I duly presented myself at Templeford and asked if the Tandy family included Phil and Alistair. OF course came the response! Over came Phil and tried to suss out who I was...he had to be prompted but on realising was so pleased to say hello - we had not seen each other since school.....a lovely reunion.

Who says this wonderful hobby of ours is introverted and isolationist? We also made friends with the folks on the Warley MRC junior layout next to us - a great bunch

So come along if you are in the area - this is a family friendly do, something a bit different - see link on signature below

Cheers

Phil
