martin.a.ball
Hi Folks Has anyone figured out how to use the img tag to include an image from google photos? Trying to include something like https://goo.gl/photos/GnyVq6KeH2yqQv4p7 results in an error. I can download, resize and upload the image to RMweb but this shouldn't really be required. Searching for google / photos / images within RMweb hasn't thrown up a fix for this annoyance just yet. Martin

RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted April 27, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) Hi Martin, On the Google Photos page, click on the image. It will display in lightbox format. Then right-click on it and Copy Image Location (Firefox) to get the image URL.On RMweb that URL won't work within ordinary img tags because the URL doesn't contain a file extension -- Google will select the file type to suit the browser/device.However, it seems that it does work in the Special BBcode option (3rd button, top row of the editor) of float='left' ... /float Or at least it is working for me, and displaying on RMweb in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. regards, Martin. RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted April 27, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 27, 2017 (edited) Martin, that is a great help - I had given up on getting my Google stored images to work on here and was using Flickr instead. Thanks also to you Martin B for raising the issue. I suppose the only issue is whether a future software update to RMweb might create problems for images used with this particular code. martin.a.ball
thanks Martin. I had got as far as working out the issue was the expectation of the RMweb forum software that the image would end in .jpg but hadn't considered using a different BBcode. I experimented with trying to add height="xx" and width="yy" but float doesn't appear to accept those additional parameters which is a shame as I tend to prefer smaller images as I find them easier to view in a topic. There is always a risk that google will change the format again in the future. Youtube changes on a regular basis.
