In fairness, presumably a new discovery the OP wished to share.  I was not aware Abebooks was an Amazon subsidiary.  However, it is a most useful resource in that almost any book is obtainable.  The only caveat is to be wary of print on demand reprints of out of copyright books.

Otherwise, there is no point in reviewing purchases as it is merely a marketplace for separate sellers.  Each of whom is rated but also, perhaps as they are all trade, seem a lot better managed than Ebay.

Abe Books is a great website for all those small booksellers to advertise their second hand stock on.

I'd actually disagree with this. I've been involved with the book trade for over twenty years, and indeed almost twenty years ago, I was working for a chain bookstore in their online retail department. Almost ten years ago I was asked by a secondhand bookseller to set up an account for them with Abe - it's not difficult, but they were personally very uncomfortable with computers. Eventually, I advised them not to bother with it because of the amount of time they would have to spend administering the account compared to the likely volume of sales . As with a lot of things, I think it probably works best if you can sell in volume and reap the benefits of economies of scale. I personally wouldn't think of selling books through Abe unless I had a very specialist catalogue, and even then I wouldn't want to do it with less than about 5000 books.

Yes, I know a small independent bookshop that uses Abe almost as a booksearch to obtain Out Of Print titles for their customers. The point about Print On Demand titles is a good one.

Always check the individual booksellers website. Often their prices are a bit cheaper by cutting out the middle man.

Yes, absolutely spot on.

Surely this should be moved to the Media section, and placed under the Books section!

Well, its here now and established so might as well carry on. The Book Depository is my choice mainly for its W/W free delivery which is a big consideration for those of us  out of the UK.

Brian.
