Waverley Route diversions

New topic time - well, it's been a while, and I think diversionary traffic deserves a topic of its own.

Kicking off with this utter debauchery:

We can cover the ASLEF West Coast diversions, East Coast flood diversions and even discuss DP2 working over the line in the few weeks before its untimely demise...

A trawl of the 1967/68/69 RO's makes interesting reading. The Waverley route had a sub heading of it's own.

Mike.

It certainly does ... for the last 10 years or so the old ROs have been my evening reading material of choice. I even managed to obtain a few 60s-years worth of bound copies, which saves on thumbing through individual issues.

D9010 on one of the earlier Deltic diversions, photographed as it entered Citadel.

What's also interesting - and not flagged up by the caption - is that D9010 is as yet un-named, the larger version of the BR crest appearing in the space subsequently occupied by the nameplate.  One for a sub-topic of "un-named Deltics working over the Waverley", maybe....
