I am now getting to the stage of putting the layout together. Ie putting buildings etc permanently in place and starting to add the details, in this case pavements around the works, hotel and staff car park and the cobbles around the back of the Old Station pub.

the pavements have been weathered but the road and the car park need some work

Classic only when resizing the photos did I notice the fencing was displaced. The cobbles also need weathering.

Kevin, as you probably realize  there is a fair amount of detailing to do. The retaining walls need to be stuck in place then various bits of green growth added round the bases of the walls. However I do feel as if I'm on the last stretch and then I need to add more cassettes for the fiddle yard.

More work on the layout and I feel as if I'm getting close.

1st: the weathered bits of road,

I've also altered the fuel discharge area, add a concrete surround and extended the pipes into the pump house and out again and only going underground at the bund.

I also got round to start weathering the two black oil tankers.

You know you are getting there when you start to populate your layout.

Another close look at Platforms 5&6

I feel I'm almost there. Inow have to think about the framing and the lid with lights.

Wow. Love the look of the platform section from this angle. Adding the properly weathered locos and stock really brings the layout to life. Love it. Well done

Paul

Whilst taking photos of platforms 5&6 (the other 4 platforms are beyond the back-scene) A short engineers train was stabled at the fuel point for a few hours. No oil delivery for a few days.

All are kits, , the Lamprey and Tunney are Chivers and the Grampii Parkside

Those who followed the Wencombe thread may recognise them.

Good to meet you Alan, I'm a big fan of your layout and love the PW wagons. I did start building a PW train myself but got distracted with another layout! Did you find out any more about weathering?

Steve.

Thanks Steve, Good to meet you too. As to weathering, I picked up some tips from Chaz and I've read Martyn Welch's book and I do have Tim Shackelton'sDVD. I've been weathering my stock for some 10 years, but one is always learning new techniques.

Your weathering looks pretty good, you're right about learning new stuff. I'm starting to use more acrylics but haven't found a better alternative than enamels for a weathering wash. I've been following a blog by Mick Bonwick on here, that is excellent and uses just a few products. You might have seen it but he weathered a Land Rover using just a wash and powders, it looked great.

Steve.
