G'day everyone,

Welcome to the Taddleston Layout & Workbench Thread. :)
In this Thread we will follow the building of my First layout 'Taddleston' as well as regular updates of items on my workbench.

Without further a do let's start a layout!

So after many false starts of "building a layout" I finally have to get my rear into gear and build one, because silly me said "Oh yeah I can build a layout for the BRMA (British Railway Modeller's of Australia) convention in October!"

So far we've got ourselves a plan and two of the 4 frames built.

The idea is that it's a Branchline Terminus (I know very original), originally built by the Midland Railway and has been taken over by the LMS.

Below is the plan in it's current (and hopefully final) form.

As can be seen I've tried to keep the 'less is more' principal with the amount of track on the layout.

We have a Goods Shed behind the Station Platform, with a Cattle Dock opposite the Station Building.

Some Coal Staithes behind the Cattle Dock and Loco servicing facilities on the Siding coming off the track behind the Cattle Dock.

The Line will curve to the left after leaving the station over an embankment and then into a cutting before going on to the traverser fiddle yard.

The Fiddle Yard will have interchangeable Tables so I can ran a larger variety of Stock without having to pack up trains every time I want to run something else.

Track will be Peco code 75 and will be DCC controlled via a Digitrax control unit.

There will be 4 modules in the base of the Layout.
Two for the Yard, One for the Curve and the other for the Fiddle Yard.

Here's the first Station Module complete in it's basic frame.

Construction is of Pine lengths.
I will then use High Density foam as the base for the Yard and build an elevated track bed for the curve section.

Next step is to build some Legs.

I was planning on building some A frames to support the layout under the baseboard joins.

If anyone has other suggestions that would suit better than that please feel free to suggest them.

Thanks for reading and I hope you will continue to follow this thread as I go about building the layout. :paint:

Cheers,

Sharky
