Blog- Thistle Foxham - Inflation?

Recommended Posts

Following discussion with a few friends earlier this month (and a lot of thought!), I have decided that this concept would work even better in 4mm scale than 2mm scale. I have just entered it as such in the Wild Swan Cameo Competition. The bigger scale will allow me to model everything in so much more detail, which I think is important with such a simple concept. It also gives me a much better selection of RTR and kits to use for stock - not to mention road vehicles and figures.

The layout will provisionally be late-1950s/1960ish, based in the West Midlands - a London Midland Region station with a connection to the Western Region. This means that GWR railcars could be seen alongside Derby Lightweight DMUs, for example - as well as a small selection of steam locos and pre-nationalisation stock. I feel it would make a good entry for the Cameo Competition.

Whatever happens, that probably means the end of this particular blog. I will probably have to relocate to the Cameo Layouts area of RMweb. I won't be able to do much until October at the earliest though, due to other commitments.

Rest assured, 2mm scale will not be abandoned - I have one or two ingenious ideas for the forthcoming 2mm Finescale Association's Diamond Jubilee Challenge. The official rules have not yet been published for this yet though, so too early to say for sure what I will be doing. A different blog - or a topic - will be created for that in due course.
