News from the KESR members website is that GWR Foxcote Manor, which suffered valve problems in early May has now had new valves fitted and test running has been undertaken over the last few days. The loco should be in service in the coming week and we await confirmation as to how long she will stay on the KESR.post-1654-0-84978300-1501365674_thumb.jpg

Sorry the pic is sideways, I don't know why this happened! Here's Foxcote Manor outside Rolvenden Carriage Shed before repairs were completed. Picture taken with full authority as I was duty shunter at the time!

Good news. I suppose now I'll have to make a third attempt at having a ride behind Foxcote. I got hopeful of at least seeing her late Saturday afternoon, when I was coming back from the Bluebell toy fair. Cranbrook Road gates shut, something coming up the bank without effort, and it was tick ticking. However, it was the pannier running light. Not that there was anything wrong with that, although the day's star loco for me was City of Wells.

You missed it by mere minutes then. I was driving the Manor and was taking water at RN and followed the Manor up when it got out of section at Tenterden!

Its on the 1st, 3rd and 5th departures from Tenterden all week and weekend.

  • 3 weeks later...

Not on the way home - I gather FM is on its way to the West Somerset Railway.

Last day of operation was Tuesday 15th, after which I understand it was run light to Wittersham Road, to drop the fire and to be put onto the low loader.

A long wait for this shot earlier in the day, as services were disrupted by a passenger accident at Bodiam.
