SouthernBlue80s
Nice to see some more BR blue., love the Amoco tanks. I take it the chassis in 31270 is not original or have you got lucky and avoided the dreaded Mazak rot? I have 31270 and 31111 converted to 31117. So far so good, fingers crossed. I have put a lot of work into them so I hope it does not all go waste one day. we shall see. I have always liked Peafore Yard as a layout
rob D2
I love 31117, those WR skinheads were great. If you need any further inspiration have a look at railpixtc.co.uk, it's Tony callaghans picture sight and has some great BR blue images from early 80s mainly on WR and SR.
SouthernBlue80s
The first pass of 47324. This has been cobbled together out of lots of bits. An old Heljan 47 shell was renumbered, new hand rails made all round bits of glazing were found. Thanks again to Ken to sending me three sets of windscreens of from which I managed to salvage two complete windscreens. I made the center headcode panels from scratch found a spare chassis on ebay and had just enough buffer beam detail kicking about to add to that. It was two coats of railmatch framedirt on the chassis and then weathered with powders and paints. I always weather the cab areas first. As they need minimal powders and then mask them off and then go for the body first with paints then with powders. Given it a bit more work so here are some new pictures ] Edited October 25, 2017 by SouthernBlue80s
rob D2
That's really nice. I like the look of the headcode panel - a lot of them looked like that
SouthernBlue80s
Thanks Rob. I am going to aim to improve things on it today. I think the headcode panel looks the part - but is a bit dark for my liking. My inspiration came from this picture. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rivercider/8067657718/in/photolist-dhURyS-dmDq9d-gRRZ4G-7y14bG-goHqmq-gMzEqz-5yh7xi-duZ3jh-pRY27q-9bj1P8-bkm9BD-4pLyk2-8o4qic-Crk5Nq-dNh2Gb-hsEtp5-aKFEtK-bKQNEi-dXiLLM-cZfUmj-gjMHRc-dMVpBu-7Eh63h-6d8Kpy-a2Bt6g-7EWUmg-dy1rM5-cZcpuo-cU2hpm-bkm4UB-dmDmZ6-88LY6P-e7Wm5A-7xM5AX-dxDk42-dF6Q6c-df8te9-4ojhJo-afvac7-5moTbg-9q19gw-bUuerZ-hq7cGj-bkm2nk-6d9fM1-gi2yq2-6d8Kc9-JvbPK1-bkmcA8-7xZ5Nj
rob D2
I think it looks well used- those panels were quite distinctive when they were in primer only which seemed to happen a lot
SouthernBlue80s
Hi Rob. All improved it has been all knocked back including the panels to give them that more primery feel. SouthernBlue80s
A while back I hit the vote button at the top of this thread which I didn´t want to do. As it seems silly to vote for your own thread. Is there anyway I can un-vote my own thread if you see what I mean

SouthernBlue80s
Thanks Simon, glad you liked them. These pictures are taken on a camera phone so they do not show the colours or the details properly. I should get around to buying a proper camera! I have more stuff to post up - but it is finding the time to take the pics. My dogfish are now finished I also have 25201 and 47285 knocking about. SPAs as well.

SouthernBlue80s
Hi Andy. I have weathered it but I am not happy with the colour still. Your post has prompted me to get it out and have one more bash right now. I will post some pictures up soon. But my gut feel is that it will need a respray. Cheers Steve

SouthernBlue80s
Did the 33 'crash ' into something fluffy? Probably....having looked at the pic the buffers do look a bit fluffy. I have just had a look at the loco...and you know what almost invisible to human eye is some dust/fluff on the buffers, so now removed.
