Keep posting on how you get on with this airbrushing kit. I've today managed to locate and obtain one myself (had to visit 3 Aldi shops before finding any in stock!) and am interested as a complete & total novice at this painting malarkey.

Ian

Please start another thread if you want to discuss the airbrush. Rather than cluttering this topic.

Thanks,

Rob

Totally agree, I’ve picked one from Aldi and am a complete Airbrushing novice.

Agree as well, and on that note perhaps someone who is a bit more Airbrush savvy or perhaps someone new who has actually got theirs out of the box :D could start a thread somewhere in the “Skills & Knowledge ” area of the forum! Edited by Banger Blue

What I call a cheap DCC chip DCC concepts from Hattons.

https://www.hattons.co.uk/59382/DCC_Concepts_DP4SAP_8_pin_4_function_decoder_with_back_EMF_Stay_Alive_1A_motor_drive_with_4_x_150mA/StockDetail.aspx

Hopefully the link works £10 plus £2 postage with stay alive.

Great deal - even if only using it as a four function accessory/lighting decoder. Just the job for flashing tail lights if you set the lighting CVs.

But note - they are a 8pin direct mount so will need a 8 pin socket - or solder direct to the pins.

Just been for a walk around bourton on the water and accidentally purchased a Bachmann 45xx. They have 15% off a lot of Bachmann and Hornby locos (in-store not online)

So my 45xx came out as £72.25 which is a fair bit cheaper than most the online retailers.

https://www.bourtonmodelrailway.co.uk/Bachmann-32131-class-45xx-prairie-tank-4539-great-western-green.ir

Maybe worth a visit if you're close, or it will pay for a visit to their model exhibit.

Cheers

Kevin.

That's the best price I've ever seen those at in the 10 years or so I've been using them!

Wickes are also doing keen deals on them, £13.99 for the 64litre or 2x 35 for £15.

I usually get mine from Gemini Storage in N Lincs, they’ve usually been the cheapest by a long way but these prices run them close on a number of sizes.

You can get the trapezoidal shape 62L one for £6.99 at Wickes. I bought a load a few months ago of the 62L at £10 for 2! Edited by sub39h

I had a look. All P4, partly made and probably with bits missing.

Seems to be a serial kit builder that never finished things.

Link here for anyone interested.

Or someone who has passed away and the family have sold the models to Hattons

Even so, fifty or sixty expensive kits half built? Mostly stuff like DJH and Gibson. Almost certainly with replacement wheels. That's a few thousand pounds worth of investment being sold off for a lot less that it would be worth if they were either finished or unstarted.

Seems to be someone who started them, got so far, started another one.

Rails of Sheffield have a Clearance Sale on including , for example ,Bachmann 32-881 for £79.50.

The "fat finger" seems to have been in use for some of the RRP's as indicated ie. over £1000 !

Rails have a number of Bachmann/Farish items in OO and N.  Interestingly they say there will be a delay in dispatch so either factory clearance or some other kind of job lot on the way?  The one that caught my eye was OO Fairburn tank for £79.50 + p/p which seems quite good given today's prices for new ones.  I already have one and don't neeeed another but you know how things are......

Edit: Didn't notice the prev post was the same thing.  Appt booked for Vision Express.......
