RMweb Premium petethemole Posted August 16, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 16, 2017 I think it's a Simca. Beaten to it!
leopardml2341
Looks to me like a Hillman - maybe a Minx - but cant be absolutely sure. Beaten to it twice and wrong to boot!
Ron Heggs
Definitely a Simca. Meccano used to make Dinky Toy models for the French Toy market back in the 1950-60's, and this was one of the models they produced Edited August 16, 2017 by Ron Heggs
SRman
Definitely a French Simca Aronde. My father owned the Elycee version from 1960 until we came to Australia, then bought an estate version over here in Australia. The one in the photo has a straight trim strip, so I am guessing it was the basic model - was that the Etoile? My memory of the trim levels is a bit hazy. Our Elycee had a thicker stripe at the front, dipping towards the rear wheel arch then kicking up again as a single trim strip to the rear end of the sdes. The Monthlery model had the thicker strip along the whole length of the side, with a dip towards the rear wheel arch. Edit: the French Dinky Toy models were of the Monthlery. mikeharvey22
N scale version here in cast pewtar at 1/145 scale. The 1/160 is spurious for most of this range. https://www.retrorepro.fr/etain-1/2002831-miniature-a-peindre-simca-aronde-1300-et-p60-n-1-160-9782950905871.html?search_query=simca+aronde+etain&results=
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted August 17, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2017 A French car enthusiast friend has one as part of his collection but I don't recall which trim. Hoping to visit him in September.
RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted August 17, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2017 The shape and size of the trim strip differed according to year of manufacture as well as model. It's definitely a Simca P60, though. My father had a Monthlery Speciale from 1962 to 1966-ish and that had a narrow straight strip running the whole length of the side. I think . . . mikeharvey22
Few too many Retrorepro Escort RS in this photo, but even in their raw state at 1/145 these look convincing. Even better when I get some paint on them. They also sell the Autosculpt range which are allegedly 1/92 scale.
