RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted August 17, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2017 My footbridge build is now ready to paint, while I am clear on the colours to paint the outsides. What colour did the GWR paint the insides of a covered, part glazed footbridge?
RMweb Gold 96701 Posted August 17, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 17, 2017 (edited) My footbridge build is now ready to paint, while I am clear on the colours to paint the outsides. What colour did the GWR paint the insides of a covered, part glazed footbridge? Is this any good? It seems to be rather authoritative, but does that make it right? Keep going to the end. http://www.carrog-station.moonfruit.com/download/i/mark_dl/u/4011868537/4592970747/INSTRUCTIONS%20FOR%20PAINTING%20BUILDINGS%20AND%20STRUCTURES.pdf Edited because I forgot to add the link before posting!! Clearwater
Whilst preservation is not a foolproof guide, I've just walked over the one at Bewdley. It's painted the same colour inside as out with a wooden floor David
Miss Prism
Apropos the colour of the outside of footbridges, I've seen a few pics where the horizontal section over the tracks appears distinctly darker (a mid-grey maybe??) than the light stone panelling used for the non-horizontal sections of the footbridge. (Possibly on the rationale that light stone would get sooted up too quickly and look naff, coupled with the difficulty in cleaning the over-track sections of a footbridge.) Hmmm (thinks), when were smoke deflectors introduced on footbridges?
Clearwater
FWIW, couple of pics from earlier at Bewdley. Some obvious modern additions. Some of the steps had advertising on the vertical bit. If of interest, I have a few others David
