Peco Rail Built Buffer Stop Modification

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Ive seen some of the Peco buffer stops modified by leaving off the buffer plate and adding pieces of rail across instead, this makes the buffer stop a lot more realistic in my opinion. Has anyone done this modification, if so which kind of rail would be better for this, Code 75 perhaps?

Thanks in advance

Michael

There were plenty of examples of rail built buffer stops with wooden crosspieces, so there is no need to do it except for variety.  As stated, bullhead rail and I would go for code 75 for the correct size and appearance.  Sometimes they were painted white with red stripes across and sometimes with red stripes above the rail where the wagon buffers would contact, but mostly they were just rust coloured.

These are my take on them.
