michaelp
Hello all, Ive seen some of the Peco buffer stops modified by leaving off the buffer plate and adding pieces of rail across instead, this makes the buffer stop a lot more realistic in my opinion. Has anyone done this modification, if so which kind of rail would be better for this, Code 75 perhaps? Thanks in advance Michael
Fat Controller
Don't forget that the rail would be bullhead, like the rest of the buffer-stop.

RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted August 19, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2017 There were plenty of examples of rail built buffer stops with wooden crosspieces, so there is no need to do it except for variety. As stated, bullhead rail and I would go for code 75 for the correct size and appearance. Sometimes they were painted white with red stripes across and sometimes with red stripes above the rail where the wagon buffers would contact, but mostly they were just rust coloured. michaelp
Thanks to both of you for your reply's, as a matter of interest is all Code 75 bullhead rail? Edited August 19, 2017 by michaelp
Pete the Elaner
Most of their code 75 is flat bottom. They have been making lengths of bullhead rail for a few years. It is only recently that they have made the webbing to go with it.

delticman
Hello Michael, I made up a few of the Peco rail built buffer stops and replaced the wooden beam with SMP bullhead rail sections which I think improves the look Geoff
