Hello

My good friend John Dedman has a new book out which is, as the title says, about traction types,( and traffic), in the North East from 1980 to the present day. The book is published by Amberley Press and costs £14 99. The book features two pictures per page, mainly in colour, though with a few B&W pictures near the front with short but concise captions with each photo which are informative and interesting.  Most of the pictures are by John but there are a few form friends to fill in gaps. The book is in chronological order and covers the area from Doncaster in the south to Blyth in the North and Leeds in the west to Immingham in the east. As well as pictures of traffic flows there are a number of photos taken in long closed depots such as Thornaby, Frodingham, Knottingley and Sunderland. This is the latest in John's series of books on various types of freight and different areas and I heartily recommend it to any-one interested in this interesting part of the world.

                                                                                                cheers

                                                                                                             George
