The two best ways being contacting them directly via Facebook or the Dapol Digest.

Thankyou. I don't do facebook, but I have now located the Dapol Digest, and I have registered. There is as yet no thread on the 48xx/14xx, and there doesn't appear to be a mechanism for ordinary members to start a thread. Or maybe I have not got such permission. So I guess I will have to continue to make any comment here.

When the Terrier came out my thought was "it's only one engine to go with that Parkside wagon I have. I could try O and build a small layout right?"  Now the thought is slowly turning to . . . "if I make the layout a bit bigger I could have two engines on scene.  It's only two right?"  Hmmmmmmmmmm.  Darn you Dapol!!

I'll be happy to help. If you want please PM me with all the errors you've noticed. I will then pass in onto Dapol via Facebook. So if you want PM me in your free time. I'm sure their read RMweb, but there's no guarantee that they'll see it and no way of us to know.

Not if you model the GWR mainline......

14's and Autocoaches ran main line, Chalford to Gloucester, can just about remember it, my Auntie lived in the flats directly opposite Brimscombe Shed. It must have had an impact, now a choo choo driver on the ESR. Happy days, John.

Experience with previous Oxford, DJM and Heljan things indicates that we could be into the "it's all too late to make changes now" situation, which seems to be the norm for RTR stuff these days.

You will never know unless you communicate with them, you never know we might get  :superstition:

Plenty of examples of main line auto work, admittedly not all 14xx.  Cardiff-Newport 'Marshfield Flyer', usually 64xx but 14xx occasionally, Cardiff-Pontypridd via St Fagans (as far as St Fagans Junction), Plymouth-Saltash, probably more.  And more intense high frequency urban 'suburban' and South Wales Valleys routes than you can shake a bunch of bananas at; the bucolic rural branch idyll was actually the exception for auto work rather than the rule.  Gloucester-Chalford was the last to remain in service, though, and probably the best known in consequence.

I for one am over the moon with this announcement, and will certainly be placing multiple orders regardless of a rivet counter errors.

It does make me cross that instead of praising the model, people seem to take delight in pointing out problem.

Maybe if others can do a better job they should fork out 250,000 to do their own?

I'm also pleased with the prospect of another model I may wish to purchase, and with Richard Webster involved, I hope & expect that it will be an excellent product - but I entirely fail to understand why you (and presumably the 8 "likes") should be "cross" when someone takes the time and effort to point out potential issues which may, hopefully, be resolved by the manufacturer, whilst it is still practical and economic to do so.

I don't see constructive criticism as "taking delight in pointing out problems", I see it as a way of getting a better model for my (or your) £225.

I'd suggest looking at the Hattons A3/A4 thread, in which there has been a wealth of information exchanged, which will, hopefully, have exactly that result - the best model that the manufacturer can make at the price point - and, those amongst us who have the specialist, detailed knowledge (and possibly the reference books to back it up) are not charging for their efforts - they're volunteering their help.

And in terms of a manufacturer's response, Andries Grabowski has shown the way on the Darstaed Mk1 coach thread.  I hope Dapol are able to do the same.

just for clarity - no connection with either the "critics" or the "manufacturers" - I'm just a modeller & potential customer.

best

Simon

A thread has now been started on the Dapol Digest, you can now pass on your findings to those involved.

It's not open to the members to comment on yet, as of now the CAD isn't 100% ready, they'll open it to members to reply once there's something worthy to show. But whoever has started the thread can be contacted via a PM and you share your observations.

Oh dear I've just realised the Titfield Thunderbolt replacement 1401? was acquired by my imaginary light railway so which one do I need? ;)

1432 auto fitted, (without topfeed), looks the closest.

Well, if you want to do the Titfield Thunderbolt, you've got an RTR locomotive. I believe D&S Models do (or did) a 7mm scale kit for the Wisbech and Upwell coach, the GWR Toad Brake Van is available from several places, and you would have to determine exactly which cattle-wagon, but I suspect it is a 9'0" or 10'0" wheelbase variety.

What was the number of the loco that was nicked from the turntable ?

One of mine will become 1401 for sure

Some wonderful colour footage in the Jim Clements DVD series, some of the station name pronunciation a bit dodgy, some great scenes of the last years of the Chalford cars and the last trains from Tetbury and Cirencester.
