FRENCH infrastructure manager SNCF Network has confirmed that the 22km Belfort - Delle line, which has been closed since 1992, will become operational again at the timetable change in December 2018, creating a further connection between the French high-speed and Swiss railway networks.

Except there is no connection between that line and the French LGV, while on the Swiss side, the only realistic option to travel to is towards Biel or Basel. In case of the latter, you'd come in from the wrong side (south-east) which is also the "exit" through trains need to take en-route to Z├╝rich, Bern, Italy and Austria.  What it does do is the provision to extend the Swiss S-Bahn system from its current terminus in Delle towards Belfort as well as an alternative path for trains from Nancy, Metz, Luxembourg towards Neuchatel, Lausanne and Geneva, bypassing the Mulhouse-Basel bottle-neck.
