MRJ Compendiums Content

I bought editions 0 - 138 from ebay for £67.00 inc postage and, having flicked through, am extemely impressed with the content. I see that there are compendiums also available and wondered if the content differed from the periodicals or if they are "best of" articles?

Enlightenment welcomed.

The three compendia were stand alone paperback books each of about 90 pages. Boradly similar articles to those in the early MRJs but more in depth so layout articles were perhaps closer to those in recent MRJs. Each also had at least one long article on modifying/scratchbuilding or kit building a loco. For example Compendium 3 had an article by Martin Blackwell describing how he built a Dean Goods from a Finney kit and had so many optional bits left over that, with a modicum of scratchbuilding, he was able to build another!

The articles tend more to be "how to do" than "this is what I/we did".

I think the three books are great - If you can find them, buy them. IMO unlikely that you would be disappointed.
