EddieB
William Fairbairn was among the great engineers of the Victorian age, and besides other notable achievements constructed some 500 locomotives which had a reputation for excellence. A new biography has been prepared by Richard Byrom and published by the Railway and Canal Historical Society: "William Fairbairn – The experimental engineer (A study in mid-19th century engineering)". The author will be giving that society's Clinker Memorial Lecture in Manchester next month (14th October) http://www.rchs.org.uk/events/clinker-memorial-lecture-2017/. Admission is free and copies of the book will be available to purchase at discount.
