RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted October 2, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) I received an email from Rails the other day that this was a Black 5 in plain BR liveries. Cheers Darius Edited October 2, 2017 by Darius43
RMweb Gold Ian Hargrave Posted October 2, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 2, 2017 I assume that it's on the Hornby stand then as Rails aren't at this show. Indeed.Rails do not attend shows.Though they did have a presence at York this year promoting the Dyno Car.
Steamport Southport
Hornby TTS Black Five. https://railsofsheffield.com/rails-limited-new-exclusive-model-revealed-07-10-17-JJJA34302 Although we've been duped by silhouettes before. Jason
Big James
Judging by the tender it’s something to do with the LMS. Big james.
JSpencer
The silhouette seems to have a mix of LMS and GWR features. A modified 5MT?
Seanem44
Hmmmm. Wonder if it will be the Austerity 2-10-0 that Model Rail (if I recall) posted about on Facebook.
JSpencer
Rails website says a new "Hornby" exclusive for £199. One assumes from the shape, pre-order button and the fact that a main range TTS sound black 5 is on the way, that this will be a black 5. Now which loco? The NRM 5000 in LMS has already been done though not as TTS. Maybe 45000 in BR days? Edited October 3, 2017 by JSpencer
RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted October 3, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2017 It is 44781, 44871 or 45110 ready for next years BIG Five Owe when BR got rid of steam.
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted October 3, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) It is 44781, 44871 or 45110 ready for next years BIG Five Owe when BR got rid of steam. Agree from the silhouette it's a Black 5. There doesn't appear to be a separate top feed, so that should make it 45110 https://www.flickr.com/photos/migrandadworabutcha/15901827483/. And haven't both 44781 and 44871 been done before by Hornby? Edited October 3, 2017 by brushman47544

cal.n
The R code at the top of the page also makes it TTS 2017 tool Black 5, also suggesting any details on the sihouette are accurate. (See bottom) http://www.newmodellersshop.co.uk/hornby_spares/hornby_spares_service_sheets.htm Edit: Spelling silhouette first time was a little too ambitious Edited October 3, 2017 by cal.n

Liam
A closer look at the couplings makes me wonder if it is an N gauge model (have they got a Black Five yet?) Or could it be an unrebuilt Patriot/Royal Scot?

And haven't both 44781 and 44871 been done before by Hornby? Yes 44781 & 44871 have been done by Hornby, in 2008 I think for the 40th anniversary of the end of steam. I wonder how Rails will feel about it being revealed early. I never realised some had red reversed rods, or perhaps that's just the reflection of someone taking the image. Says it’s available already. Edited October 3, 2017 by Hilux5972
