Thread ignore function

Apologies if this is already posted but I can't find it, but does the thread ignore button actually do anything please? I've tried using it and whilst a red flag appears on the thread nothing else changes, I thought it might hide the thread or something, many thanks.

Not sure what you mean by 'red flag on the thread'.

When I look at the forum area with all the threads/topics listed, if I press ignore a red flag or button appears beside the thread title in that list.

Yes, I see what you mean now.

 

The 'thread ignore' function applies only to 'view new content' and 'content I follow', as far as I know.

 

The threads are still listed in their 'forum area listings', so that they can be un-ignored if desired.

Yes, ignored threads are removed from search results (such as VNC) but still sit visible in the normal forum views, and marked as ignored.
