Rockwool built a factory near Cwmbran around 1980 with a private siding to the adjacent main line, but I never saw a single wagon use it.

Well these wagons would never have visited - they use every mm of continental loading gauge, including having rather small wheels, meaning a tendency to derail which is apparently the model following prototype practice!

Thanks for answering a question, @jonhall

Having recently bought a Fleischmann 57301, which is a similar looking (though not identical) wagon with "Railship" branding, I was vaguely wondering what the prototype of this rather unusual wagon might have been used for...I guess Rockwool or similar insulation makes perfect sense, being light but bulky!
