whart57
My layout is to 3mm scale on 9mm gauge track. In the past I have bought 7 and 8mm diameter wheels sold for OO9 use from Parkside Dundas. I still have plenty of 7mm diameter wheels but I am down to scavenging 8mm wheels from failed projects. The 8mm diameter wheels have been out of stock at PD for a few years now, and of course Parkside Dundas is no more. Searching on the internet has not turned up an alternate supplier - or at least not one who actually has such wheels in stock. Anyone know of a supplier? bertiedog
First Parkside is still going, they were bought by Peco........but no 8,mm wheels that I know of....... apart from Markits MRJ08nsBD Rmfd 8mm Solid NS Bogie Disc [ NOT ASSEMBLED] These would need a lathe turned bush added for insulation. ed7
I spoke to Andrew Hastie of Dundas Models at ExpoNG today. He told me that 8 mm wheels (for both 9 mm and 12 mm gauge) are currently being manufactured and he hopes to have tham available in a month's time at the Warley show. whart57
Ah, that is good news. Unfortunately I won't be going to Warley so I hope he does mail order.

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 29, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2017 (edited) Yes Narrow Planet also confirmed the wheels are being manufactured and had a sample in a photo posted on NGRM. It means the ex Meridian TR coaches will soon be back in production too Edited October 29, 2017 by PaulRhB
Stevelewis
Ah, that is good news. Unfortunately I won't be going to Warley so I hope he does mail order. Yes Mail order is efficient and rapid BUT at Exhibition times there will probably be a delay due to his not being on his premises, suggest you enquire prior to exhibition dates, Phoning is much quicker than email
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 29, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2017 8 and 9 mm wheels are still available, made by Bemo I think, but they have steel tyres so don't work well with uncoupling magnets. The new ones being made by Markits for Narrow Planet and Dundas will be brass.
whart57
The profile of those BEMO wheels is awful though. I'm not a follower of protoscale standards with their invisible flanges but neither do I want flanges that look like they could open the odd can of beans if you were stuck for a can opener. I'm hoping the new Dundas wheels are going to be a lot like the old Parkside-Dundas ones
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted October 29, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2017 Photos of them in brass over on NGRMonline in the Narrow Planet thread on page 39.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 29, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2017 The new wheels will have the same profile as these: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/32375-rt-models/page-23&do=findComment&comment=2881424
