Tillig Elite track

Hey everyone

 

What other makes of track can Tillig Elite ho track easily connect to?

 

I want Tillig Elite in the scenic section but ideally smoothing cheaper but reliable in the fiddle yard.

 

Also what point motors would people suggest for Tillig? I realise it has to be latching, and something that switches polarity too would be beneficial I'd imagine, don't know what people suggest?

 

I've only ever used solenoids before so no idea of the various other brands and types...

Not sure if will operate points with dcc yet. Not weighed up options...

The Code 83 Tillig Elite will mate up perfectly with Exactoscale concrete sleeper bases also using Code 82/83 rail but Peco Code 75 is a decent match too. You'll have a tiny step up from the code 75 to the Tillig track (see photo below) but it's barely noticeable and won't matter if you're just planning to use the Peco Code 75 off-scene. Peco Code 75 joiners can be used, but you get a tighter fit with Tillig's own chemically blackened joiners. Alternatively, to do away with the step-up altogether, the Code 75 track can be shimmed a little, but then you'll not be able to use Peco or Tillig joiners without a little bending.

 

Edit: Cobalt motors work really well with Tillig points. Tillig do their own motors, but they can require quite a bit of adjusting to work well.

It also mates well with Code 100 using the clunky Peco Code 75/100 joiners unlike other Code 83 tracks which need a soldered joint IME with Code 100.

 

For Point Motors I would recommend Cobalts, I have used Tilligs own as well as Cobalts own but will fit Cobalts every time now. The Tillig motors are more fussy to fit, cannot be reversed in direction of throw and are noisy

cheers guys that's perfect!  just what i needed to know...

 

i guess a tiny slip under the code 75 rails and into the joiner would raise the height of the code 75 the tiny but needed to be level with the top of the code 83 as well...

 

anyway that settles it then, i'll use code 75 or 100 in the fiddle yards and cobalt motors
