Peco TT wagons

Having just acquired 2 brand "new" Peco TT wonderful wagon kits I was surprised with one of them that the two underframes sections were of different lengths.  If the locating pegs at each end were assembled as per the standard procedure, one side was bowed and the locating pips for the floor would not fit correctly in the plastic base holes.  To get this to fit I had to remove the locating pips and glue the chassis to its base.  I stupidly forgot that the axle centres would not therefore line up but can accept a slight wobbly wagon.  Was this an issue that often occurred?  I cannot see the mouldings expanding/contracting like the old acetate plastics especially as I guess the material is the same as Peco Streamline track which thankfully does not expand/contract.

Also, for some reason one axle on each wagon does not turn freely.  I tested them for tightness before assembly and they seemed to be free but once fastened together there is an issue.  I suspect an axlebox might be the problem as when the wheel sets are swapped it is the same result with a different wheel.

I know Tri-ang supplied some plastic bodies of their own at one time but this one is one I thought would be a metal casting as it has the cardboard overlays to go around it so a little weight will have to be added.

Regarding the Conflat, the instructions tell you to bend the cardboard information panel in to the solebar which I think will be too far in so I am going to make some packing to keep it level.

Not really my area. I've never heard of any problems with Peco TT wagons. I've built a few OO ones in the past and generally they were fine. I've had a quick look round to see if there's any info on Peco wagons in the stuff which the 3mm Society has produced from time to time, thought there was some but can't find it.

Is it possible you've been sold bits of two different kits? Thought all Peco bodies were cast metal.

It looks like one of each pair of frames are distorted, I've not seen this before but may have happened with later mouldings or storage conditions.

A slight possibility Nigel but the packet was still sealed (with Rusty staples) and the parts wrapped up.  I always thought the bodies were cast metal but it seems in the latter year or so they went to plastic. On Sunday there were 4 more one of which was plastic the others were still wrapped up but I lost out on them anyway.

I don't know if I actually distorted them trying to assemble the parts although I doubt the time they were bent would be long enough to keep them that way. It was obvious that the sides were of two different lengths and someone said it may be that they were from two different kits.  He did not mean the 9' and 10' but a Peco body as opposed to one made for a Tri-ang body, that is if they was any difference in them.  At lease the other one of the two was okay.
