Hi all,

Has anyone got any tips on how to smoke glazing fitted in coaches?

I'd be interesting in knowing if the finish is good enough to allow spraying the exterior side of the glazing or if it has to be the inside.

If it does involve spraying the inside, does that leave a 'prism' effect to the glazing?

I'm looking to smoke-glaze some Hornby Mk3s in OO and some Dapol Mk3s in N.

Would anyone know what would be the best manufacturer/colour for this purpose?

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Cheers,

Michael

It makes you cough terribly, and almost certainly produces carcinogens, so I wouldn't, if I were you.

But, if you insist: shave it into strands with a surform, then roll it in a rizla.

You can buy clear smoke tinted self adhesive vinyl a4 sheets on Ebay very cheaply, it comes in brown tint, dark grey tint and other various suitable ones.

I hadn't thought of self-adhesive vinyl - thanks for the input guys.

I can see I've got a lot of experimentation to do!

Cheers,

Michael
