cal.n
Hello all,I have a Shapeways shop here and in my signature (thanks to everyone who has bought anything already) and after looking for small detailing items to create, I through 3D printed loco headboards could work in 4mm as an alternatave to etched products. I have a friend at the Ribble Steam Railway so was able to measure a few for an idea of size. I am a modern image contemporary modeller so all I have created so far are seen on modern Steam Tours and Diesel Railtours. They all have raised text and border visible on the print without being over-scale like some etches. They also feature a slot on the back to aid attaching to a lamp bracket.Rendering of WCRC's 'Jacobite' headboard. https://www.shapeways.com/product/MPPFZ777A/jacobite-00-gauge-headboardStatesman Rail's 'Fellsman'Headboard worn on the lead loco of all 'Pathfinder' promoted tours.'Icons of Steam' headboard (brand part of the Hosking Empire and worn by 46100, 45231 etc.)**I have the commercial rights from the owners of all the trademarks above but am awaiting an email from Icons of Steam, but it should be available soon. And the real thing.A little much on the packaging side of things...PaintingPrime, I used standard Halfords grey aerosol primer. I blue-tacked to scrap wood after it blew away the first time and wasn't easy to find, this mean't I only painted the front but the back can be painted.I then painted the whole thing silver (or whatever colour you want the text) and let completely dry. Then I painted it blue (background colour) and before it was fully dry, I wiped off the blue with cardboard to reveal the silver on the lettering and leave the blue behind.Time for a cruel close-up. Headboard in 62005. I have plans to make others (incl 'DRS Crewe on a Mission', 'Cumbrian Mountain Express') but if anyone wants anything specific, please don't hesitate to let me know. cal.n
New Product https://www.shapeways.com/product/XHS49XDPB/oo-gauge-wipac-lighting-clusters-ioo?optionId=64038817 4 x OO gauge IOo WIPAC lighting clusters as seen on countless classes on modern diesel and electric locomotive and multiple unit (and some coaches). All light clusters are temporaly held together in a spruce by a 1mm square strip that can easily be removed. The large circular hole will accept 2.5mm diameter lighthouse LEDs and the smaller circle will accept 2mm diameter lighthouse LEDs. If you plan to illuminate the marker lights, I recomend a surface mount LED. e.g. https://www.switchelectronics.co.uk/optoelectronics/through-hole-leds/2mm-leds/red-2mm-lighthouse-diffused-led Pack contains enough for 1 complete loco or unit (two for each end). Made using dimensions from this and one is 7mm long/tall. In the last week, Shapeways have also reduced their UK shipping to $5, which makes some of these products a real alternative to etches, rather than something you just add to your cart when buying something bigger from shapeways (which you are still welcome to do ). Feel free to wishlist below at will for future products. Edited November 10, 2017 by cal.n
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 11, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2017 Nice work Cal. I'll get a Fellsman with my next Shapeways order. Cheers, Mick

cal.n
'Icons of Steam' headboard now available, worn by locos owned by Locomotive Services Limited (e.g. 45231, 46100, 34052). I'm particularly pleased with this one because of all the surface detail involved in the logo. https://www.shapeways.com/product/BWWXTMPBA/icons-of-steam-oo-gauge-headboard The 'Icons of Steam' name and logo shown on the headboard remain property of 'Locomotive Services TOC Limited' and are used with Permission.
cal.n
Stop_Signage.pdf Done 'Stop Signage' for the Track Possession limit markers. They are the right size for my 4mm version and are free to print out and stick on. I would recommend painting them first and not use much glue at all. cal.n
We can dream, eh? https://www.shapeways.com/product/6DQNR2KAT/class-142-farewell-tour-oo-gauge-headboard First Great Western had theirs a while ago, Arriva Trains Wales and Northern are still holding on. Obviously the number '142' can be interchanged with any other loco or unit class you want to run a 'Farewell' railtour for. I could also do nicknames like 'Tractor', 'Chopper' or 'Nodding Donkey' at no extra cost. Just let me know. cal.n
https://www.shapeways.com/product/F4SHEEQSE/oo-em-p4-drs-mark-2-coach-window-bars?optionId=64478534 When Direct Rail Services recieved the contract to provide a passenger service replacing Northern Rail DMUs on the Cumbrian Coast line, they chose to use class 37/4s and Mark 2 TSO and DBSO coaches. On the Cumbrian Coast line, many of the tunnels and bridges are tight gauge-wise (also the reason mk3s are banned on the line). For this reason, Direct Rail Services have fitted bars over the door windows on TSO and DBSO coaches to prevent heads coming into conact with a bridge or tunnel, while still allowing passengers to open doors. This model represents the later 'over window' style bars after complaints that the original bars (fitted in the interior of the door) prevented people from opening the doors from the inside. Spruce contains enough for 1 coach (4 bars). They are supplied unpainted, but (as you can see in the picture) they are the same colour as the light blue of the door. When fitting these, note the orientation, the thinner bar goes at the top and the corner with a 'bit chopped off' faces inwards. Note that the bars stick out more one side thatn the other, this side should face outwards. This light blue door colour is Revell no. 50. The main dark blue of the coach is Humbrol no. 104 (Oxford Blue). As far as I can work out, they have been applied to DBSOs 9709 and 9707. And TSOs 6122, 5919, 6064, 5995, 6173 and 6117. cal.n
OO/EM/P4 Stencil Indicator with the letters 'RA', meaning Right Away A 'right away' indicator is used at places where the driver may be unable to see the 'ready to start' handsignal, so this is operated by station crew. There is a section behind the stencil, large enough for a Surface Mount LED, I would recomend a pre-soldered version, similar to this. Designed using original tehnical drawing direct from Unipart Dorman (who suppy these to Network Rail) and its includes detail sush as the sighting tube. Other stencil indicators can carry the letters 'CD' for Close Doors or the word 'OFF' do show a signal is showing proceed. If you want me to do these, let me know and I will do it for no extra cost. As ever, I am open to any product suggestions.

If it's any help, the same thing happened to me initially with the theatre indicator in #13. Cal.n fixed it very quickly and put it back on sale, and 2nd time around it all went smoothly. Terrier79
Hi Callum, I’d really like some of the Wipac light clusters but when I click on the link it says not for sale. Will you be making some more available? Cheers! Edited September 6, 2018 by Terrier79
