faa77
Wondered if anyone "in the know" would be able to tell me whether the body from R2577 (Class 60 Mainline) would fit on the chassis from R3266 (Class 60 "Quinag" coal sector)? RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted November 12, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 12, 2017 Should do, all the Hornby Class 60's use the same tooling unless any modifications have been made to the electrical connections for the lights,
faa77
Should do, all the Hornby Class 60's use the same tooling unless any modifications have been made to the electrical connections for the lights, Glad you told me. Apparently Hornby cannot repair my chassis (under warranty) and when I suggested they could replace the chassis with one from R3266, they said couldn't do this........ RMweb Premium Hilux5972 Posted November 13, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 13, 2017 The old ones did used to have sprung wiper pickups for the lights inside the cab. Some of the diesels are now switching over to a plug on a lead arrangement so the 60 could be the same.
blueeighties
Any body will fit on any chassis, but you won't necessarily have working lights. Hornby wire their non sound and sound chassis differently, and need specific lighting units to work. One is wired common positive, the other common negative. This is a well documented issue, and affects classes 31, 50, and 56. Not sure of others. Edited November 15, 2017 by blueeighties
