Leander
The 5th Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills DayThe Kidderminster Railway Museum, Station Approach, Comberton Hill, Kidderminster, DY10 1QX 10th March 2018 Opening times: 11.00am to 4.30pm FREE Admission to AllWebsite: http://www.emgs.org/...s/?event_id1=19 Organised by The EM Gauge Society This, the 5th Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills Day to be organised by the EMGS, welcomes modellers in all scales and gauges. There is Free Admission to all who attend. It features a dozen experienced modellers demonstrating a wide range of skills, and offering hands-on experience; plus two 4mm scale layouts: 'Kitedale' an ex-L&YR P4 layout presented by Ray Hodson and 'Trewithick' a GWR EM layout presented by Graeme Vickery. Further details will be available on the Events page of the EMGS website (www.emgs.org). Kidderminster Railway Museum is situated adjacent to the Severn Valley Railway's Kidderminster Town station. Parking is in the SVR's Pay & Display Car Park. Train services will be running on the day. Disabled Access: There is a ramp for wheelchairs giving access to the ground floor of the museum. However, the Skills Day event is taking place on the upper floor and we very much regret that the museum website (http://www.krm.org.uk/) states there is, unfortunately, no disabled access to the upper floor, on the advice of the Fire Officer. By Car: Kidderminster is only half an hour from the M5/M42 motorways. Take the A442 from Bromsgrove, or the A449 from Worcester or Wolverhampton and follow the signs for the Severn Valley Railway. There is ample parking on the site. By Rail: Kidderminster station is between Birmingham (Snow Hill or New Street) and Worcester, and has inter-city links from either of those two cities to all parts of the country. The museum is less than 100 yards from the Network Rail station. By Plane: Birmingham International Airport is about half an hour away by road, probably three quarters of an hour by train. Access to the museum is through the Severn Valley Railway's Kidderminster Town station - go through the booking office and turn right just before the platforms. Leander
The 5th Chris Kedgley Memorial Skills Day The family of Chris Kedgley, the former Chairman of the EM gauge society (and active member of the Scalefour Society) who passed away in June 2013, “gifted” his models and un-built kits to the EMGS. Chris was a highly skilled modeller who as well as building also painted and lined his models. With the proceeds of sale from these models now exceeding well over £5,000 the EMGS Board have decided to hold a fifth “Skills Day” (the first in the Midlands) in his memory. The event will feature over a dozen experienced modellers demonstrating a wide range of skills, plus “Kitedale” an ex L&Y P4 layout presented by Ray Hodson and “Trewithick” a GWR EM presented by Graeme Vickery. Both layouts will be presented “sans drapes” Catering: The SVR has its own tea- rooms adjacent to the venue. Kelly
Will be the first I've managed to make it along to. The ones up north are too far to drive for me sadly, so looking forward to this one that is fairly close by.
