RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted February 24, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 24, 2018 (edited) That's more P4 than EM! Looking forward to it - always a good show and very handy for where I live - the latter being why I usually end up arriving at 2:30pm on the Sunday. robertcwp
Having seen Black Lion Crossing under development, it should be worth the admission fee on its own.

Leander
Unfortunately, 'Black Country Blues' has had to withdraw from the Expo. It has been replaced at this late date by 'Lee-on-the-Solent' and 'Valleyfields'. See post #4 for more details.
RMweb Gold adrianmc Posted April 26, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 26, 2018 (edited) A layout also appearing but missing from the list is Surrey Arms, a small BR (SR) terminus by Stephen Hannington. More pictures at http://www.uckfieldmrc.co.uk/exhib17/surreyarms.html Yours truly will be a guest operator for the weekend. Andy Y
Pity that's the layout on the adverts! We need to know why?!! It is very unfortunate. When the team committed in early 2017 to attend there was a very healthy response but the intervening period has meant that there were a number of personal and health issue affecting individuals and their families (self-included) which substantially impacted on the team strength. It distilled down to three remaining members from the Midlands-based core group and even with kind support from further afield we were down to a maximum of five people (and then I had to admit I couldn't honour my commitment). We tried to find support from trusted folk but they were not available at short notice. We could have ploughed on in hope but felt it right to advise at the earliest opportunity that we were up the creek without a paddle. There's been no shortage of anguish about the decision at our end but I would like to thank the exhibition team for their kind words and support when it all came tumbling down. It's nice to see there are two very good replacements arranged already by the hard-working team - they could have done without this one being dropped on them. RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted May 1, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 1, 2018 As one of the last three operators standing I can only echo what Andy said. It was a very difficult decision to make but we were well below what was needed to shift the layout at both ends and run a decent train service at the show. With all the personal health and unforeseen family issues suffered by many of the team at the moment it feels like we must have mown down a whole flock of albatross. Thankfully it looks like we gave just about sufficient notice for the show to find replacements and we're very grateful for their understanding. Pulling out from a show, particularly one where the layout features on the advertising, was not something we've had to do before on any of our layouts. Getting enough bodies for shows does seem to be a growing problem these days though and not just for us.
RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted May 5, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2018 This and Railex at Stoke Mandeville the following weekend are the two big spring exhibitions I get to. I see Jerry Clifford has Tucking Mill here and Foxcote New Pit there, which is neat. I'm also taking careful note of which traders are at one of the two only, esp. only at ExpoEM! RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted May 7, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 7, 2018 I have just read on another thread ( http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96826-david-geen-kits-positive-announcement-of-future-kits/page-3 post 53 ) that David Geen is unable to attend, due to his wife deteriorating health. I wouldn't normally do two weekends in a row like this but we always do Railex at Aylesbury and we did guest scale missionary work at expo EM a few years ago with Highbury and thoroughly enjoyed it so were happy to do it again. It would have been sensible to take the same layout to both but ........ Jerry
