RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted November 27, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2017 I bought a triple wagon pack from Warley MRC's stand. It was highly appropriate to offer a pack with: a PO open numbered 25 (the 25th anniversary of their first show held at the NEC) a PO tanker numbered 50 (the 50th anniversary of their first show) But was there a LMS brake van actually numbered 2550? I've thought brake vans built during the LMS era carried 5- or 6-digit numbers. I'm curious to know if it was indeed the case.
Steamport Southport
2550 = 25 and 50 geddit? However the early LMS brake vans of a Midland design used random numbers. Usually using the numbers of wagons that have been scrapped so there potentially was a No 2550. A previous version was numbered 2045. http://www.hattons.co.uk/52712/Bachmann_Branchline_38_552_Midland_20T_Brake_Van_LMS_Grey_with_Duckets_/StockDetail.aspx Jason

Steamport Southport
I haven't got the LMS or Midland Wagon books to hand, but I know that there are very few known numbers of the earlier wagons. So I reckon that's as good a number as any other. Jason
RMweb Premium gc4946 Posted November 27, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2017 By the way, here are photos of the two other wagons included in the special pack: No. 25 No. 50 I'm assuming they were checked against historical sources, nevertheless, I was interested in buying the pack because the PO wagons had Birmingham connections (I was born there)
