So sorry for your loss Darren, your dad born in 1951 is the same age as me, argh a cold shudder goes thro' me. I spent most weekends at Nine Elms shed after the closure of Willesden in September 1965, until '9E' own demise July 1967, rarely visiting Waterloo, so there's a few memories for me. 34057 is 'cold' on shed as it was one of those cannibalized to help keep 34023, and 34102 in working order.

Thanks for posting these Darren, a lovely reminder of your father and his interests. It was my dad too who nurtured my interest in steam engines, he worked at Eastleigh (71A) shed so from the age of 5 I spent many a happy hour on the footplate of the shed pilots there.

I was really interested and pleased to see some photos of 41312 as well, we have it on the MHR and it was the loco I passed my driving test on many moons ago.

That 'Hall' is definitely not at Paddington Darren - did your dad put any notes on the back of the print?

No not on this one?, I thought is was, love to know where it was taken, most of my late father photo have notes.

Last ones from Nine Elms shed, The second Photo my Father told me it started to rain, so he climbed up into the cab to keep dry, while he was in the cab he found some sandwiches tucked into a small locker, which he eat.
Only later did he think that he may had eat the Driver/Fireman's lunch.
All taken May 1967.

Very sorry to hear about your loss Darren its a real sadness but his photographs which are truly excellent will ensure his memory is kept alive and shared by many for a long time to come..as already said a great tribute.

I am of ages with him and also spent time around Nine elms and the SW mainline around the same time so many of the pics bring back memories.

35007 & 34102 both mentioned I photographed on Weymouth shed around the same period.

It sounds like you have your work cut out to catalogue and share these pics but please continue as long as you can as those so far have been spot on.

Thanks again

Dave.
